|(10/4/14) Saints safety Jairus Byrd underwent season-ending knee surgery Friday, according to the Seattle Times.
Byrd was placed on season-ending IR earlier in the day. He injured himself in practice Thursday. Coach Sean Payton said the team doesn't believe Byrd will be limited at the start of next season. "The good news is the repair went well, and it’s something that, with the right rehab and treatment, there should be no carryover effect," Payton said.

|(10/3/14) The Saints have placed free safety Jairus Byrd on injured reserve. He is done for the season with a torn lateral meniscus in his knee. He sustained the injury in Thursday practice.
Byrd played in all four games for his new team and contributed to 22 tackles and two passes defensed. It has been a tough stretch physically for Byrd, who underwent offseason back surgery and did not return until Aug. 19.
Jairus Byrd makes impact in first game with Saints

|(9/7/14) Defensive back Jairus Byrd, who is beginning his first year with the Saints after spending the last five with the Bills, made his presence known Week 1 at Atlanta, stripping the ball from wide receiver Julio Jones late in the first quarter. Teammate Corey White recovered the fumble. Byrd also had five tackles, all solo.
|Jairus Byrd moves from Buffalo to New Orleans this season, and hopefully he will continue to create turnovers for the Saints. Byrd has 22 interceptions and 11 forced fumbles in his career, and if his tackle totals can increase -- he had just 48 total in 2012, his lowest since 2009 -- then his Fantasy value will rise. Byrd had over 85 tackles in 2010 and 2011, so the potential is there. We consider Byrd a No. 3 Fantasy defensive back coming into the season, and he's worth drafting with a late-round pick in all IDP formats.
