|Pierre Garcon has worst game of season |
|by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer|
(12/8/13) Coming off three straight games with less than 70 receiving yards, Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon wasn't any better Week 14 against the Chiefs. In fact, he finished with a season-low 37 yards on five catches, squandering his team-high 12 targets.
In fairness, few of those targets were on target. Quarterback Robert Griffin III struggled with his accuracy on a snowy day, frequently overthrowing his intended targets. He had an especially bad miss on a deep ball to Garcon near the end zone in the third quarter.
Despite Garcon's lack of production in recent weeks, which may simply be a product of the Redskins' struggles as a whole, he remains the go-to guy in the passing game, getting double-digit targets in seven straight games. He'll look to make better use of those targets with a favorable matchup Week 15 at Atlanta.

(12/4/13) Though he's been targeted as much as usual and hauled in his share of passes, Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon's production over the last three games has been lacking. He fell short of 70 yards and went without a touchdown in each. And while matchup was at least partially to blame Week 12 against the 49ers, it shouldn't have been so much of a factor in Weeks 11 and 13.
In Week 14, Garcon will face a Chiefs defense that technically ranks only 21st against the pass, allowing 249.0 yards per game, but two recent matchups against the Broncos' Peyton Manning have influenced that ranking. The Chiefs have a good pass rush and an opportunistic secondary, which together could give a mistake-prone quarterback like Robert Griffin III fits.
And his struggles would likely trickle down to his top wide receiver. With all the targets he gets, you probably couldn't justify sitting Garcon in Fantasy, but you shouldn't expect a big resurgence this week either.

(12/2/13) Redskins receiver Pierre Garcon led the team with nine catches for 61 yards in the loss to the Giants but made a critical mistake on Washington's final drive. After catching a short pass, Garcon struggled for extra yardage only to have the ball ripped away by safety Will Hill. The fumble ended the Redskins' comeback hopes.
Targeted a team-high 12 times, Garcon achieved a milestone Week 13. He now has 980 receiving yards, surpassing the previous career high of 947 he set with the Colts in 2011.
Garcon plays the Chiefs in Week 14.
|Pierre Garcon looking for success vs. Giants |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(11/28/13) Despite spending a season-plus in the NFC East, Redksins wide receiver Pierre Garcon has faced the Giants just one since joining the Redskins, due to injury. He did find success in his lone matchup last season, and will try to put up a repeat performance in Week 13.
The Giants have shored up their pass defense recently, allowing just 13.2 Fantasy points per game over the last five, but Garcon has torched them before. Garcon racked up eight receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown the last time he saw the Giants on the schedule.
The Giants have not allowed a wide receiver to score over the last five games, and Garcon has just one touchdown in that same span himself. Still, the Redskins throw the ball his way a ton, and he is averaging 90.6 yards over the last five games. This isn't the greatest matchup, but Garcon will be looking to repeat his past success, and should be started in most Fantasy formats for Week 13.
|Pierre Garcon can't crack 50 yards in Week 12 |
|by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com|
(11/26/13) Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon failed to make much of an impact during Monday's loss to the 49ers in Week 12.
Garcon was Robert Griffin III's primary receiver but was held under 50 receiving yards for the second time this season. He was targeted 11 times and finished with eight receptions for 48 yards in a 27-6 defeat.
Garcon has reached a personal best 75 receptions on the year for 919 yards. It’s the most receptions he’s had in a season since 2011 with Indianapolis. He'll look to bounce back at home against the Giants in Week 13.
|Pierre Garcon is having trouble staying healthy, which has become a concern for Fantasy owners, but we have confidence his second season with the Redskins will be better than the first. Garcon missed six games and was limited in two others because of a nagging toe problem last year. Then this offseason he had chest surgery, although he's expected to be fine for training camp. Garcon showed last year that when he played, he was dominant. He had double digits in Fantasy points in four of the eight games where he was close to 100 percent and finished the season with 44 catches for 633 yards and four touchdowns. Garcon avoided surgery on his foot, which is a positive, but the injury could still be a concern. He also has to deal with the health of his quarterback, Robert Griffin III, who is coming back from major knee surgery. But if all the reports on Garcon and Griffin are positive through training camp, then Garcon should be considered a solid No. 2 Fantasy receiver. We would draft him as early as Round 5 or 6 in the majority of leagues. (Updated 5/28/13) |
