T.J. Ward feels bad Gronkowski was hurt on low hit, but 'that's about it'

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/30/14) Broncos safety T.J. Ward might hear a chorus of boos reign down in his direction during Sunday's game at New England, and that's because Ward was the player responsible for sending Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski to injured reserve last season.

Ward, who was playing for the Browns last season, ended Gronkowski's season in Week 14 last season with a helmet-to-knee hit that tore Gronkowski’s right ACL and MCL. Ward said he has no regrets about the play and wasn’t purposely trying to take out Gronkowski’s knee, per The Boston Globe.

"I feel bad he got hurt, you know, but that’s about it," Ward said Wednesday. "I’m just playing fast out there, and coincidentally, it was a bang-bang play. I think if he wouldn’t have gotten hurt, then it wouldn’t be an issue."

Ward, who is seven inches shorter and 65 pounds lighter than Gronkowski, said the only way to tackle Gronkowski is by going low.

"Gronk’s a big dude. He gets hit, and he keeps going. Guys bounce off him, and he’s throwing guys left and right," Ward said. "I was taught that if you can take a guy’s wheels away from him, he’s no longer mobile, and that’s what you’ve got to do with big guys. I’m not going to go in there and bang heads with somebody that’s 60 pounds more than me. I’m going to hurt myself."

Wait another week on Broncos DST

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/2/14) The Broncos revamped their defense after ranking 22nd in points allowed (22.9) and 19th in total yards (356.0).

They added defensive end DeMarcus Ware, safety T.J. Ward and cornerback Aqib Talib. They drafted corner Bradley Roby in the first round. And they'll benefit from Von Miller being in better shape.

Last year's No. 13 Fantasy DST should finish as a Top-10 unit this year. But the group might not mesh right away. And Sunday night's game against the Colts, with a whopping over/under of 55, is going to be a shootout.

Indy gave up the 11th-fewest Fantasy points to DSTs last year (7.56 per game). Sit the Broncos DST in Week 1, if you can, then start the unit Week 2 in a much more attractive matchup against Kansas City.

T.J. Ward to move around

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/8/14) New Broncos safety T.J. Ward will play some linebacker in sub packages, reports the team's website. He made 112 tackles last year and is a big hitter at 5-10, 200 pounds.

"I like to be everywhere," Ward said. "If it can change up my looks at different times and the offense doesn’t see me in one spot all the time, it definitely helps us help the defense and that’s what I want to do."

T.J. Ward accused of throwing mug at bartender

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/23/14) Broncos safety T.J. Ward appeared in court Friday to face an arrest warrant accusing him of misdemeanor assault and peace disturbance, reports the Denver Post.

According to a police report obtained by the Denver Post, the warrant was filed because Ward allegedly threw a glass mug at a female bartender who was working at strip club in the early morning hours of May 10.

The warrant was dismissed Friday, according to the Denver Post, because it was mistakenly issued by police. However, when Ward appeared in court on Friday, he was given a ticket and ordered to appear in court again on June 23. A $1,900 bond was also set for Ward.

Report: Arrest warrant issued for T.J. Ward

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/22/14) Broncos safety T.J. Ward, who was signed this offseason as a free agent, has a warrant out for his arrest, according to a report by Denver's CBS4.

According to documents reviewed by CBS4, Ward is wanted in connection with an incident that took place May 9, which is categorized both as an assault and disturbing the peace. The warrant became active Thursday.

Court records reveal little about what prompted the issuance of the arrest warrant. However, sources say the warrant was issued in connection with a scuffle at a Denver nightclub.
