Vikings sign Tom Johnson

(3/20/2014) The Vikings are expected to sign former Saints defensive lineman Tom Johnson on Thursday, reports ESPN. The deal is expected to be for one-year and $845,000 but could pay him up to another $600,000 in incentives.

Johnson, who played defensive end in the Saints' 3-4 scheme, had interest from the Cowboys, Bears, Dolphins and Seahawks in addition to the Vikings.

(2/21/2014) The Saints will not tender a qualifying offer to restricted free agent defensive lineman Tom Johnson, according to USA TODAY.  

Johnson appeared in 40 games for the Saints over three seasons, totaling 55 tackles and 5.0 sacks. The 29-year-old will now become an unrestricted free agent. 


Seven healthy scratches on Saints inactive list

(12/22/2013) The Saints have listed DE Tom Johnson, OLB Keyunta Dawson, S Rafael Bush, RB Travaris Cadet, WR Nick Toon, TE Josh Hill and QB Ryan Griffin as inactive Week 16 against the Panthers.

Cadet was listed as probable on the team's injury report entering the game, but will not go. Dawson and Hill were questionable. Bush was listed as doubtful. 


Saints DST holds Cowboys under 200 yards

(11/11/2013) The Saints DST did not produce a turnover in the Week 10 blowout of the Cowboys, but otherwise turned in a strong performance. New Orleans held Dallas to 194 total yards and did not allow a third-down conversion.

Defensive ends Glenn Foster and Tom Johnson and linebacker Parys Haralson all registered sacks for the Saints, who have a tasty matchup Week 11 at home vs. the 49ers.

Of the eight players on the injury report, seven are considered questionable. They are: linebacker David Hawthorne (toe) and Curtis Lofton (hamstring, ankle); defensive linemen Tom Johnson (hip), Cameron Jordan (ankle) and Tyrunn Walker (knee); and defensive backs Malcolm Jenkins (knee) and Roman Harper (knee).

Saints defense dealing with plenty of injuries

(11/1/2013) The Saints have some serious injury questions heading into Week 9 against the Jets, with eight players from the defensive side of the ball dealing with injuries. Among those eight, just three are probable for Sunday's game: defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (knee), linebacker David Hawthorne (ankle) and defensive back Malcolm Jenkins (knee).

The bigger concern for the Saints are the five defenders considered questionable for the game. Defensive linemen Cameron Jordan (ankle), Tyrunn Walker (knee) and Tom Johnson, as well as defensive backs Kenny Vaccaro (concussion, back) and Roman Harper (knee) are all at risk of missing Sunday's game.

(10/11/2013) The Saints could be missing a number of contributors on the defensive side of the ball for Week 6 against the Patriots, based on Friday's injury report. After being limited in practice throughout the week, linebacker Ramon Humber (calf), defensive backs Malcolm Jenkins (neck) and Keenan Lewis (knee) and defensive lineman Brodrick Bunkley (calf) are all questionable for Sunday's game.

The team also has five players on the injury report who are expected to play through their injuries. The team has listed linebacker Martez Wilson (ankle), defensive ends Tom Johnson (hamstring) and Glenn Foster (ankle) and defensive bacsk Chris Carr (back) and Isa Abdul-Quddus(ankle) on the injury report as probable.

Both players were listed as questionable on the injury report, but are active against Chicago. Johnson has been dealing with a hamsting injury. Lewis has been limited by a hip injury.

(9/15/2013) Saints defensive lineman Tom Johnson was forced out of Sunday's Week 2 contest at Tampa Bay with a right leg injury. Johnson suffered the injury in the first quarter and was taken to the locker room for further evaluation. He is questionable to return.
