News: The New Orleans Saints began paring down their roster Monday and released the following players: quarterback Luke McCown; tight end Jake Byrne; wide receivers Marques Clark, Kevin Hardy and Derek Moye; defensive backs Kamaal McIlwain, Cord Parks and Johnny Thomas; defensive linemen Remi Ayodele, Swanson Miller and Donavan Robinson; and linebacker Aaron Tevis.
Analysis: McCown was in camp competing for the third-string quarterback job after serving as the starter for Jacksonville in parts of last season. However, none of these players were expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left off all rosters at this point.
News: The Saints filled another hole as defensive tackle Remi Ayodele signed a one-year deal with the team Monday. Ayodele (6-foot-2, 318 pounds) played for the Saints from 2008-2010 and was a starter most of his time in New Orleans. Ayodele signed with Minnesota in 2011 but was released after one season.
Analysis: Ayodele will provide depth at DT and isn't expected to post many stats. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The Vikings have released defensive tackle Remi Ayodele. Ayodele came to the Vikings in 2011 as a free agent and had been a member of the Saints defense that has been disciplined for employing a bounty program. Perhaps in anticipation of player suspensions, particularly for Ayodele, the Vikings recently re-signed their two UFA DTs -- Letroy Guion and Fred Evans.
Analysis: Ayodele is a decent run stuffer but not a big stat producer. Fantasy owners shouldn't add him to rosters.
News: DT Remi Ayodele was acquired as a free agent and cant practice until Aug. 4, but Vikings coach Leslie Frazier already has plans for him. "There will be some competition from some other guys, but right now pencil him in [as the starter], Frazier said."
Analysis: Ayodele was a force on the Saints' defensive line the last two seasons, but he is one of those players that is far more important to his real team than Fantasy owners. He can be ignored in most formats on Draft Day.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports the Vikings have agreed to terms with Saints free agent DT Remi Ayodele. The 6-2, 318-pound Ayodele fills a hole in the defensive line created by the potential suspensions of Kevin Williams and Pat Williams and the release of Jimmy Kennedy.
Analysis: Ayodele is a heck of a run stuffer but not a big stat producer. Fantasy owners shouldn't add him to rosters.
News: DL Remi Ayodele has signed his restricted free-agent tender offer and will return to the Saints this season. Ayodele was a quality role player for them in 2009 with 1.5 sacks and helping clog the run as a defensive tackle.
Analysis: Ayodele won't produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters.
News: Saints DL Remi Ayodele had only two solo tackles Week 4 against the Jets, but his biggest contribution came in the second quarter when he fell on a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.
Analysis: Ayodele has yet to record a sack in his career, so he doesn't matter in Fantasy. The blind squirrel found a nut in this case.
News: The Saints listed the following players as inactive for Week 1 vs. Detroit: RB Pierre Thomas, DB Usama Young, WR Rod Harper, DL Remi Ayodele, LB Jonathan Casillas and TE Darnell Dinkins.
Analysis: Aside from Thomas, none of the players on this list have any real Fantasy appeal. Leave them on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: The Saints listed QB Joey Harrington, WR Robert Meachem, DB Jason David, DL Remi Ayodele and DL Antwan Lake among their inactives for Week 10 against the Falcons.
Analysis: None of these players has any real Fantasy value even when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Saints released reserve quarterback Joey Harrington in order to make room on the roster for defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, who was signed off the practice squad. Harrington, who already has been signed and released twice this season, could be brought back as space on the roster allows.
Analysis: Ayodele doesn't figure to play a big enough role on defense to matter in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers.
News: The Cowboys inactives for Week 14 at Detroit include DB Evan Oglesby, RB Tyson Thompson, WR Terry Glenn, WR Isaiah Stanback and DL Remi Ayodele.
Analysis: Glenn remains out and will not likely return in time to help your Fantasy team this year. All the other players have minimal Fantasy value this week and should be reserved.
News: Cowboys DB Evan Oglesby, RB Tyson Thompson, WR Terry Glenn, WR Isaiah Stanback and DL Remi Ayodele are all inactive for Week 13 vs. Green Bay.
Analysis: Glenn is on the verge of missing the entire season because of a knee injury, but the Cowboys still hold out hope he will be back in the coming weeks. Who knows how effective he will be even if he does play? Most of these players have little to no Fantasy value when active. Keep them reserved Week 13.
News: Notable inactives for the Week 12 Cowboys-Jets game include: For the Cowboys, RB Tyson Thompson, WR Patrick Crayton (ankle), WR Terry Glenn, DB Evan Oglesby and DT Remi Ayodele. For the Jets, FB Darian Barnes, WR Laveranues Coles (ankle), TE Sean Ryan, DE Eric Hicks and DE Marques Murrell are inactive. QB Marques Tuiasosopo is the team's emergency quarterback.
Analysis: Sam Hurd will start in Crayton's place. Crayton and Glenn are the most notable inactive players, but Glenn has still yet to take the field this season after undergoing two arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee. The remaining inactive players have little to no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 12.
News: The Cowboys' list of inactives for Week 11 against the Redskins includes DB Evan Oglesby, RB Tyson Thompson, WR Terry Glenn, WR Isaiah Stanback and DT Remi Ayodele.
Analysis: Glenn is the most notable inactive player, but he has still yet to take the field this season after undergoing two arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee. The remaining inactive players have little to no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 11.
News: Cowboys DB Evan Oglesby, RB Tyson Thompson, WR Terry Glenn, DL Remi Ayodele and WR Isaiah Stanback are all inactive for Week 10 at N.Y. Giants.
Analysis: Glenn is the most notable inactive player, but he has still yet to take the field this season after undergoing two arthroscopic surgeries on his right knee. His return is still unknown. The remaining inactive players have little to no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 10.
News: The Dallas Cowboys put nose tackle Jason Ferguson on injured reserve Tuesday and replaced him on the roster with Remi Ayodele. Ayodele, the younger brother of linebacker Akin Ayodele, went to training camp with the Cowboys and was released on the final cut. Atlanta claimed him off waivers, then released him Friday.
Analysis: Ferguson tore his right biceps muscle in the first quarter of the opener against the New York Giants on Sunday night. He is scheduled to have surgery Friday. Neither player is worth a roster spot in IDP Fantasy leagues heading into Week 2 at Miami.
News: The Falcons signed quarterback Casey Bramlet from the practice squad on Friday, clearing room on the 53-man roster by releasing nose tackle Remi Ayodele.
Analysis: Ayodele had yet to record a stat in the NFL and will have a hard time doing so as a free agent. Ignore him in all Fantasy formats.
News: On Monday, the Falcons signed RB Artose Pinner, DT Remi Ayodele and OL D'Anthony Batiste to their roster, waiving RB Jason Snelling and LB Jordan Beck.
Analysis: Pinner may land a few reps here and there for the Falcons, but he isn't worth owning in Fantasy play. As for Snelling, apparently he fell out of favor with coach Bobby Petrino and couldn't establish himself as their short-yardage presence. He should only be held on to in deeper keeper leagues. Everyone else doesn't put up enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play.
News: The Cowboys cut 20 other players, including rookie QBs Matt Moore and Richard Bartel, to get their roster to the mandatory 53 players. The other Cowboys cuts were veteran CB Aaron Glenn, DT Remi Ayodele; RBs Arliss Beach and Alonzo Coleman; TEs Adam Bergen and Rodney Hannah; WRs Damarius Bilbo, Mike Jefferson and Jerheme Urban; CBs Quincy Butler and Joey Thomas; center Trey Darilek; LBs Junior Glymph, Khari Long, Blair Phillips and John Saldi; FB Lousaka Polite; DE Marcus Smith; and offensive lineman Matthew Tarullo.
Analysis: All of the above players should be considered unusable for Fantasy purposes until they find regular playing time with an NFL team.
News: The Cowboys have allocated DT Remi Ayodele, TE Tony Curtis and LB John Saldi to NFL Europa this spring.
Analysis: These players will participate in the NFL's spring league that has created stars such as Jake Delhomme, Adam Vinatieri, Marcus Robinson, Kurt Warner and Jon Kitna. If they play so well over there that they become viable Fantasy options, you'll know about it before the start of the season.
News: Quarterbacks Brian St. Pierre and Drew Olson were among 21 players cut Saturday by the Baltimore Ravens. Among the veterans cut Saturday: defensive end Roderick Green, Baltimore's fifth-round pick in 2004; linebacker Tim Johnson; guard Thatcher Szalay; and defensive back Jamaine Winborne. In addition to Olson, rookies and first-year players cut were: tight ends Rob Abiamiri and Bobby Blizzard; defensive tackles Remi Ayodele and Nick Leaders; wide receivers Romby Bryant and Travis LaTendresse; defensive backs Robb Butler and Duvol Thompson; linebackers Jim Cottrell, Ryan LaCasse and Dennis Haley; and offensive linemen Rob Droege and Michael Kracalik. Placekicker Aaron Elling was also cut.
Analysis: The moves brought the Ravens to the mandated 53-man limit, although the team is certain to shuffle the roster before opening the season Sept. 10 at Tampa Bay. By cutting St. Pierre and Olson, Baltimore has only two quarterbacks: starter Steve McNair and backup Kyle Boller. St. Pierre, who served as the No. 3 quarterback last year, could be re-signed if he clears waivers. Olson, an undrafted quarterback out of UCLA, saw limited action during the preseason. None of the other players has any Fantasy value.
