Texans probables OK to face Browns

(11/16/2014) Three Texans linebackers who had been deemed probable for their clash in Cleveland on Sunday have been given the green light: Jadeveon Clowney (knee), Brian Cushing (knee) and Brooks Reed (groin). Another probable cleared is cornerback Johnathan Joseph (concussion/knee).

(11/14/2014) Texans featured back Arian Foster is listed as questionable for the Sunday game in Cleveland, but various report have him as likely sidelined. If that is the case, only he and cornerback Kareem Jackson (knee) will be absent. Jackson has already been ruled out.

The probables including premier linebackers Jadeveon Clowney and Brian Cushing, both with knee injuries, as well as Brooks Reed (groin), Jeff Tarpinian (knee), Justin Tuggle (shoulder) and John Simon (ankle). Cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph (concussion/knee) and Darryl Morris (ankle) are also probable.

They are running backs Alfred Blue (ankle) and Arian Foster (knee), wide receiver Andre Johnson (ankle), cornerback Johnathan Joseph (knee) and linebackers Whitney Mercilus (shoulder) and Brooks Reed (groin).

(10/31/2014) The Texans have listed 13 players on its final injury report leading up to Week 9 against Philadelphia. Jeff Tarpinian (knee) was the only player on the list ruled out for the game. Jadeveon Clowney (knee, illness), Brian Cushing (knee) and Darryl Morris (ankle) were all deemed questionable.

The following players were ruled probable for Sunday: Alfred Blue (ankle), Arian Foster (knee), Tim Jamison (groin), Andre Johnson (ankle), Johnathan Joseph (knee), Whitney Mercilus (shoulder), Brooks Reed (groin), Jumal Rolle (wrist) and John Simon (ankle).

(10/24/2014) The Texans listed a lengthy injury report for Week 8 against the Titans.

Darryl Morris (ankle) and Jeff Tarpinian (knee) were the only two players on the list ruled out for the divisional clash. Jadeveon Clowney (knee), Brian Cushing (knee), Brooks Reed (groin) and John Simon (ankle) were labeled questionable. Meanwhile, Akeem Dent (wrist), Tim Jamison (groin), Andre Johnson (ankle), Johnathan Joseph (knee), Mike Mohamed (calf) and Jerrell Powe (shoulder) were all deemed probable.

(10/20/2014) Several Texans who were on the injury report are active for Monday's game at Pittsburgh.

The list includes defensive end J.J. Watt (thigh), guard Brandon Brooks (illness), linebacker Brian Cushing (knee), wideout DeAndre Hopkins (hand), defensive end Tim Jamison (groin), cornerback Johnathan Joseph (knee), offensive tackle Derek Newton (elbow), linebacker Brooks Reed (groin), linebacker Jeff Tarpinian (knee). All were listed as probable.

Also suiting up is linebacker Mike Mohamed, who was questionable with a thigh injury.

Jadeveon Clowney questionable on Texans Week 7 injury report

(10/18/2014) Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is listed as questionable to play in Monday's Week 7 battle with the Steelers after limited in practice for a second straight day Saturday.

Clowney hasn't played since Week 1 while recovering from knee surgery. Linebacker Mike Mohamed (calf) is also questionable to play afer being limited all week. Cornerback Darryl Morris (anke) has been ruled out.

The Texans have a whopping 12 players listed as probable to play Monday, including running back Arian Foster (groin), wide receivers Andre Johnson (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hand), guard Brandon Brooks (illness), center Chris Myers (not injury related), offensive tackle Derek Newton (elbow), defensive ends J.J. Texans LB Brooks Reed appears set to play Monday night

(10/17/2014) Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed said he expects to play Monday night against Pittsburgh despite a groin injury he sustained in Week 6 against Indianapolis.

"I didn't think I was going to be able to recover this fast," he told the Houston Chronicle after Friday practice.

Bill O'Brien concurred that Reed should play, claiming that he "should be good to go."


Brooks Reed moving to inside linebacker?

(5/13/2014) The Texans will ask linebacker Brooks Reed to move to the inside of the defense to play next to Brian Cushing, the Houston Chronicle reports. Reed, who has spent the offseason training with J.J. Watt, would move inside to make room for No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.

Reed said he's been talking about moving inside "for the past three years."


Texans list baker's dozen as probable for Sunday

(12/27/2013) Thirteen Texans have been deemed probable for the last game of the year, including wide receiver Andre Johnson (wrist) and quarterback T.J. Yates (back).

The other offensive probables are tight end Ryan Griffin (knee), wideout DeAndre Hopkins (ankle), fullback Greg Jones (knee) and offensive linemen Wade Smith (knee) and Derek Newton (knee).

The defensive probables are linebackers Brooks Reed (thumb), Darryl Sharpton (knee) and Justin Tuggle (elbow), backs Josh Victorian (back) and D.J. Swearinger (foot) and end Antonio Smith (knee).


Brooks Reed getting sacks instead of J.J. Watt

(12/16/2013) The Texans recorded one sack Week 15 at Indianapolis, but it wasn't defensive lineman J.J. Watt who contributed it. In fact, he's now gone three games without one despite his 9 1/2 on the year. Linebacker Brooks Reed was the one who took down Andrew Luck in the third quarter, giving him a sack in back-to-back games. He has only three all year.

Watt finished with five tackles, one solo. Reed had three, all solo.

(9/13/2013) The Texans have 18 players listed on the injury report for Week 2 against the Titans, but they should be nearly at full strength come kickoff Sunday. That is because all but one of those listed is expected to play, with 17 considered probable after making it through practice Friday. 

Of those 17, eight come on the defensive side of the ball, including:  defensive ends J.J. Watt (quadriceps) and Tim Jamison (foot); linebackers Brian Cushing (knee), Darryl Sharpton (concussion), Joe Mays (quadriceps) and Brooks Reed (back); and safety Shiloh Keo (Achilles).

(5/15/2013) The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans linebacker Brooks Reed had an offseason operation to address an injury suffered during the season, defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said during a radio appearance. Phillips did not indicate the surgery would be a problem for Reed heading into the Texans’ organized team activities, which begin May 20. Reed missed four games late last season with a torn groin.
