News: The Bears signed journeyman safety Troy Nolan on Wednesday, reports the Chicago Tribune. Chicago doesn't expect Chris Conte to be ready for Sunday's Week 17 game at Detroit.
Analysis: Nolan is just depth for the Chicago secondary. He may see some time on the field against the Lions, but has low-end appeal in all IDP formats.
News: The Texans re-signed defensive back Troy Nolan Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Analysis: Nolan will be secondary depth while Quintin Demps (forearm) is sidelined. Nolan has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Miami signed linebacker Mike Rivera and safety Jonathon Amaya on Tuesday, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Dolphins released guard Ray Feinga and safety Troy Nolan to make room.
Analysis: Nolan was claimed by the Dolphins off waivers and could not get the playing time he hoped to find. He has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: The Dolphins continued shaping their roster Saturday in preparation for the regular season and added the following players: defensive backs R.J. Stanford and Troy Nolan; and linebacker Sammy Brown.
Analysis: None of these players were or are expected to make a major Fantasy impact this season. Leave them off all rosters at this point.
News: Texans DB Danieal Manning had surgery Monday to fix his left fibula, which was injured in Week 7 against the Titans. He is out at least four weeks. "We think theres an opportunity for him to come back this year. We'd love to get him back before this seasons over," coach Gary Kubiak said of Manning. Troy Nolan moves into the starting lineup at free safety with Manning sidelined.
Analysis: Nolan had three interceptions in 2010, so he has proven he can be a nuisance in the secondary. It's just that Nolan is a low-end Fantasy DB until he starts to make plays on a regular basis.
News: Texans DB Troy Nolan recorded his first two career interceptions in Week 4 against the Raiders. Nolan's second interception came late in the fourth quarter on a fourth down play that sealed the 31-24 victory. He was also credited with four tackles.
Analysis: Nolan is merely a reserve defensive back who only plays on a handful of dime and nickel packages. While he has tremendous potential he does not play enough to use in IDP formats. He can be left on the waiver wire heading into Week 5.
News: Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said SS Troy Nolan is progressing well after missing his entire rookie season with a wrist injury. "He's way ahead," Kubiak said. "He was into game plans and meetings, and because of that he's got a chance to be very competitive real early."
Analysis: If Nolan starts for the Texans at free safety, he'd register as an out-of-nowhere Fantasy DB with potential to contribute as at least a reserve option. We'll keep an eye on him in training camp and the preseason and keep you posted.
News: The Texans have waived DB Troy Nolan, DE Stanley McGlover and RB Boomer Grigsby.
Analysis: None of these guys had Fanatsy value, so continue to ignore them.
News: Texans safety Troy Nolan, a rookie seventh-round pick, will have surgery to repair a broken hand Monday. He was injured in Saturday's preseason game at Kansas City.
Analysis: Nolan has minimal Fantasy value when healthy and should not be drafted in any IDP leagues this season.
