Steelers melt down roster

News: The Pittsburgh Steelers made their latest round of cuts Monday and released the following players: defensive back Walter McFadden; tight end Justin Peelle; linebacker Ryan Baker; defensive lineman Mike Blanc; wide receiver Paul Cox; defensive back Andre Freeman; kicker Danny Hrapmann; tight end Jamie McCoy; defensive back Myron Rolle; wide receiver Juamorris Stewart; defensive lineman Kade Weston; and wide receiver Jimmy Young.

Analysis: None of these players were expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left off all rosters at this point.

Steelers sign some interesting players

News: The Steelers signed six players to reserve/future contracts Friday, with some intriguing names joining the roster. QB Troy Smith and WR Derrick Williams are two notable players, each of whom played elsewhere in the league. Smith started a handful of games just last year with the Niners and spent some time as a backup in Baltimore. Williams, a former Penn State player, was originally a draft choice of the Lions. Others signed are CB Walter McFadden, WR Tyler Beiler, WR David Gilreath and WR Jimmy Young.

Analysis: Chances are none of these players will make an impact with the Steelers anytime soon. Leave them off rosters for now.

Edwards among players cut

News: The Raiders made the necessary cuts to get down the the required 53 players on Saturday. Among the released were QB Trent Edwards, WR Shaun Bodiford, S Matt Giordano, CB Lito Sheppard, LB Sam Williams, WR Shawn Bayes, CB Jeremy Ware, TE Kevin Brock, DE Mason Brodine, DB Stevie Brown, DT Jamie Cumbie, LB Chris Francis, LB Bani Gbadyu, DT Derrick Hill, DE Tommie Hill, WR Chad Jackson, LB J Leman, CB Walter McFadden, WR Eddie McGee, CB Sterling Moore, RB Louis Rankin and FB Manase Tonga.

Analysis: Edwards was a mild surprise, but the team had to get rid of one signal-caller with Terrelle Pryor on board. Otherwise, all the moves were minor in nature. Neither of the players were expected to make a big Fantasy impact in 2011, so ignore them in all formats.

	McFadden leaves with hamstring injury News: Raiders DB Walter McFadden left in Week 3 against the Cardinals with a hamstring injury. Analysis: McFadden is a rookie out of Auburn who was seeing his first action of the season before getting hurt Sunday. He finished with just one tackle and can be ignored in Fantasy at this point.
