Ravens' Jimmy Smith (foot) has 'no doubt' he'll be back for camp

(3/23/2015) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith is still rehabbing his season-ending Lisfranc sprain to his left foot, but said he'll be ready for the start of training camp in late July, reports the team's official website.

"I have no doubt in my mind that I'll be back ready to go," Smith said. "Every day I grow a lot. Every day I feel good about the progress."

Smith has been able to walk without pain and recently increased his physical activities, but he admits the rehab process has been grueling.

"In the beginning, it was rough because of how much it hurt," Smith said. "When you get off [the boot], you have to rebuild all of those muscles and tendons, and everything is popping in there. It hurts."


Ravens CB Jimmy Smith's misdemeanor case dismissed

(2/2/2015) A misdemeanor failure to obey charge against Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has been dismissed.

Smith was arrested last July 12 for reasonable and lawful order of a law enforcement officer. Initially, a court date was slated for Feb. 17 before prosecutors decided not to move forward.

"Jimmy is thrilled to put this case behind him," Smith's attorney Warren Alperstein told The Baltimore Sun. "He remains fully focused on his recovery from his injury and looks forward to getting ready for next season."

Smith was alleged to have interfered with officers and emergency medical personnel that arrived at a Towson, Md. restaurant to tend to an intoxicated woman who is a friend of Smith’s. According to police, Smith declined to move out of the way because he said he was helping her.

Smith missed the latter half of the NFL season with a Lisfranc sprain. His season ended with 28 tackles and one interception. 


Ravens CB Jimmy Smith to start running in four weeks

(1/13/2015) Ravens coach John Harbaugh said starting cornerback Jimmy Smith, who suffered a season-ending foot injury Oct. 26, will start running in four weeks, reports ESPN.com. "He'll get a chance to get a full offseason in," Harbaugh said.

Smith played eight games, making 28 tackels, eight pass breakups and an interception.

(11/20/2014) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has confirmed that the issue that resulted in his placement on IR is a Lisfranc injury and that he will be out for about six months.

Smith added that he first believed the problem to be minor and that he was surprised it required surgery, per the Baltimore Sun.

(11/8/2014) The Ravens placed cornerback Jimmy Smith on injured reserve Saturday and signed cornerback Rashaan Melvin off Miami's practice squad, the team announced.

Smith suffered a foot injury in Week 8 and wound up undergoing season-ending surgery. Melvin's presence on the active roster gives the team four healthy cornerbacks going into Sunday's matchup with the Titans.

The other two injured players on the team's Friday report are probable. They are offensive linemen Marshal Yanda (knee) and Jeremy Zuttah (ankle).

Both Campanaro and Smith were ruled out on Friday's injury report. The Ravens had three players listed as questionable, and all are active for the NFC North battle.

(10/27/2014) Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters in his Monday news conference that cornerback Jimmy Smith will likely be sidelined until the bye week with a foot sprain, according to the Baltimore Sun. Harbaugh specified that Smith's sprain, which will keep him out a few weeks, is not of the Lisfranc severity.

Smith suffered the injury Week 8 at Cincinnati. He registered 28 combined tackles and one interception before getting hurt.

(10/26/2014) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith has a sprained foot and is doubtful to return to the team's Week 8 game against the Bengals Sunday, the Ravens announced.

Smith was injured on the first drive of the game with the Bengals in the red zone, and though he was able to exit the field under his own power, he was limping noticeably. After being checked out by the training staff on the sideline, Smith was taken to the back for further evaluation before the announcement was made.

(7/13/2014) Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith was cited by police Saturday night for failing to follow an officer's orders. The misdemeanor charge came after police responded to a report of a woman passed out in a restaurant bathroom in Towson.

The woman was vomiting into a bathroom sink when police arrived. Smith was with the woman and "refused to obey an officer's repeated orders to leave the bathroom," police said.

Smith became the fifth Raven to get in trouble with police this offseason.
