Jason Hatcher, Stephen Bowen to go on PUP list

(7/23/2014) Redskins defensive ends Jason Hatcher and Stephen Bowen will open training camp on the PUP list, reports ESPN. Both are coming off knee surgery, but could be activated at any time. Hatcher could return in the next couple weeks.

(4/29/2014) Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen has "no doubt" he'll be ready for the start of training camp. Bowen is coming off of microfracture surgery in his knee. 

"Training camp is when they want me to be 100 percent [recovered]," Bowen told ESPN. "I have no doubt in my mind that I'll be ready."

(11/26/2013) The Redskins announced a slew of roster moves Tuesday. They added wide receiver Josh Bellamy to the active roster, signed cornerback Peyton Thompson to the practice squad, waived cornerback Jerome Murphy and placed Stephen Bowen (knee) on injured reserve.

(11/26/2013) Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Tuesday defensive end Stephen Bowen is done for the season because of cartilage damage in his knee. Shanahan said Bowen might need microfracture surgery.

"Anytime you lose a guy like Stephen, it's a big blow to your football team," Shanahan said. "It's hard to lose a guy with his play and his character."

(11/23/2013) The Redskins defense has four players on the injury list for Week 12 against the 49ers, and they could be missing two of them for Monday's game. Defensive lineman Stephen Bowen (knee) and defense back Jose Gumbs (ankle) are both questionable after Saturday's practice.

Two other players, defensive backs Josh Wilson (toe) and  E.J. Biggers (knee) are considered probable for the game.

(11/17/2013) Redskins defensive lineman Stephen Bowen, who has already been playing with a torn PCL in his knee, may now have cartilage damage in his knee, coach Mike Shanahan told The Washington Post after Week 11 at Philadelphia. He'll have an MRI Monday.

Bowen left in the second half with the injury. He did not factor statistically before leaving.


Three Redskins healthy enough to play

Hall has been dealing with a foot injury, and was limited in Thursday's practice. Bowen has a knee issue, and Gumbs is dealing with an ankle injury.

All six players were able to fully participate in practice every day this week. They should all be able to play Sunday.

Bowen suffered a torn PCL in his knee last week against the Bears and was labeled as questionable on the injury report leading up to Sunday.

(10/25/2013) The Redskins have some injury concerns on the defensive side of the ball for Week 8 against the Broncos, as three players are listed on Friday's official injury report as questionable. Defensive lineman Stephen Bowen (knee) is joined by defensive backs Reed Doughty (concussion) and Chris Neild (calf), all of whom were limited throughout the week in practice.

Doughty could play in Sunday's game, but he has to pass a concussion test Saturday before being cleared, as head coach Mike Shanahan told reporters.

(10/20/2013) Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen had to leave Sunday's Week 7 game against the Bears due to a right knee injury. Prior to leaving, Bowen had two tackles for the Redskins defense. 

Bowen will undergo an MRI on Monday, ESPN reports. The 29-year-old has 15 tackles this season for Washington.

(10/2/2011) Washington DL Stephen Bowen had a nice game on Sunday of Week 4 at St. Louis. Bowen helped the Redskins earn a win as he recorded 1.5 sacks in the game against QB Sam Bradford. Bowen recorded five total tackles in the contest.

(7/28/2011) The Sports Xchange reported Thursday that the Redskins have agreed to a five-year deal with former Cowboy DE Stephen Bowen. The $27.5 million contract includes $12.5 in guaranteed money, and he is expected to start right away in the team's 3-4 scheme at defensive end. Bowen had 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Cowboys in 2010 in his first season as a starter.
