News: Less than 24 hours after being released by the Seahawks, DL Kentwan Balmer was claimed by the Panthers. The team announced the move hours before their preseason game against the Bengals on Thursday. To make room for Balmer, the team placed CB Cletis Gordon on the injured reserve.
Analysis: Gordon played in the United Football League last season, as did many former NFL players. With the Florida Tuskers, he was able to play on a more consistent basis -- though the competition was under that of the NFL. He won't get a chance at NFL playing time for another full season now that he is on the IR, so Gordon should not be considered in any Fantasy format in 2011.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports that the Panthers agreed to a one-year deal with CB Cletis Gordon on Wednesday. He was cut by the Cowboys before last season, and he only played one game in 2009 with them. Gordon last saw a prominent role as a reserve with the Chargers in 2008.
Analysis: Gordon played in the United Football League last season, as did many former NFL players. With the Florida Tuskers, he was able to play on a more consistent basis -- though the competition was under that of the NFL. Fantasy owners should not consider him to be an option on Draft Day, so leave him on the waiver wire.

News: Cowboys QB Stephen McGee, DB Ken Hamlin, DB Cletis Gordon, TE Martellus Bennett and DL Curtis Johnson have all been ruled inactive for Week 14 vs. San Diego.
Analysis: Bennett (concussion) is the only name that really jumps out on this list. He is a nice receiving option for Cowboys when he is active, but he still doesn't light up the stat sheet. He has low-end Fantasy appeal. Make sure to keep all these players reserved for Week 14. Most of them have little to no Fantasy appeal.

In 30 career games, including one start, Gordon has 17 tackles, two pass breakups and 12 special teams tackles.

Analysis: Gordon never had any Fantasy value at any point this season and that should certainly not change as he's out with injury now. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats.
News: Linebacker Marques Harris and cornerback Cletis Gordon signed one-year contracts with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday. Harris was a restricted free agent and Gordon was an exclusive rights free agent. Harris has been a key reserve and special teams player in his three seasons in San Diego. He played in 15 games at outside linebacker last year, including two starts. He had 1 1/2 sacks and eight special teams tackles. Gordon played in 14 games last season, mostly on special teams.
Analysis: Neither defender posts enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Ignore them both for now.

San Diego police took Gordon, a 23-year-old rookie, into custody in downtown's Gaslamp Quarter about 2:15 a.m., some 10 hours after the Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders 21-14. His car was impounded, and he was released on his own recognizance later in the morning, a jail clerk said. "I think we need to wait until all the facts are brought out," coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "He was brought in. My understanding is he did the test and it was below the number. I don't know. We'll have to wait and see."
Analysis: Gordon shouldn't be owned in Fantasy play anyway.
