News: The Colts placed defensive lineman Brandon McKinney (knee) on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: McKinney is a veteran defensive lineman, but he has just 60 tackles and no sacks in 61 career games. He was just looking to make the Colts roster as a reserve lineman and will now miss the 2012 season. Continue to leave him off Fantasy rosters.
News: The Colts appear to be close to picking up a much needed addition to the team's 3-4 defense -- a nose tackle. According to the Indianapolis Star, Indy officials are finalizing details to add Brandon McKinney, who played for the Ravens the last four years.
Analysis: McKinney (6-foot-2, 350) will give the Colts the big body needed up front, but he won't help Fantasy owners as he puts up minimal stats. Keep him off rosters.
News: Baltimore QB John Beck, DB Ed Reed, TE L.J. Smith, WR Mark Clayton, DL Brandon McKinney and DL Kelly Talavou have been listed as inactive for the team's Week 14 game against the Lions.
Analysis: Of the players listed, only Suggs and Clayton have any real Fantasy appeal. Leave the remaining players reserved in all leagues until further notice.
News: The Ravens have listed QB John Beck (third QB), DB Tom Zbikowski, LB Dannell Ellerbe, DL Brandon McKinney and DL Paul Kruger as inactive for Week 2 at San Diego.
Analysis: There are no shocking names on this list. Most of these players are reserves or contribute on special teams for the Ravens. They have little to no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 2.
News: The San Diego Chargers re-signed offensive tackle Jeromey Clary, wide receiver Malcom Floyd, safety Steve Gregory and defensive tackle Brandon McKinney to one-year deals Tuesday. All four were exclusive-rights free agents. Clary moved into the starting lineup in December, taking over at right tackle in place of Shane Olivea. Floyd saw action in six games, catching seven passes for 97 yards. Gregory played in all 16 games, seeing most of his action on special teams. McKinney became a regular on the Chargers' defensive line rotation, playing in 14 games with two starts at defensive tackle.
Analysis: None of the aforementioned players post enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. Ignore them all for now.
News: The San Diego Chargers have announced their inactives for Week 2 at New England. TE Scott Chandler, DT Brandon McKinney, CB Paul Oliver, WR Eric Parker (toe), FB Andrew Pinnock (hamstring) and LB Anthony Waters are all inactive. QB Charlie Whitehurst will also serve as the No. 3 emergency quarterback.
Analysis: McKinney, Oliver and Waters are all useless from a Fantasy perspective in IDP leagues. The Chargers play the Packers in Green Bay in Week 3.
News: Notable inactives from the Chargers-Bears Week 1 game include: Chargers QB Charlie Whitehurst (No. 3/emergency QB), CB Paul Oliver, LB Anthony Waters, LB Brandon Siler, OT Roman Oben, TE Scott Chandler, WR Eric Parker and DT Brandon McKinney. For the Bears, QB Kyle Orton (No. 3/emergency QB), CB Corey Graham, FB Lousaka Polite, DB Kevin Payne, OL Josh Beekman, TE Greg Olsen, WR Mike Hass and DT Anthony Adams are inactive.
Analysis: Parker will be out for several weeks, and Olsen is on a week-to-week medical watch with a knee injury. The rest of these players shouldn't be considered for Fantasy use.
News: CB Cletis Gordon, LB Marques Harris and DL Brandon McKinney were inactive for Week 15 against the Chiefs.
Analysis: The three defensive players are not recommended in any Fantasy IDP leagues for Week 16 at Seattle.
News: Notable inactives for the Broncos-Chargers game include: Denver WR Quincy Morgan, RB Damien Nash, RB Cedric Cobbs, DB Steve Cargile, TE Chad Mustard, DE Kenny Peterson and DT Antwon Burton. For San Diego, QB Charlie Whitehurst (No. 3 QB), RB Michael Turner, LB Randall Godfrey, WR Malcom Floyd, WR Keenan McCardell, TE Ryan Krause and DT Brandon McKinney are inactive. Vincent Jackson will start for McCardell.
Analysis: None of the players named inactive should start in Week 14 Fantasy play.
News: The following players were signed to San Diego's practice squad on Sunday: OT Jeromey Clary, QB Brett Elliott, DB Steve Gregory, RB Tyronne Gross, DT Brandon McKinney, C Nick Mihlhauser, DT Chase Page and RB Ray Perkins.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to make any sort of impact in Fantasy Football. Ignore them for now.
News: The Chargers released 21 players Saturday to reach the NFL's mandatory 53-man roster limit. The players included: WR Ricky Bryant, T Jeromey Clary, RB Larry Croom, QB Brett Elliott, FB Jonathan Evans, LB Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, CB Steve Gregory, TE Kelly Griffeth, RB Tyronne Gross, T Ben Johnson, S Andre Lott, DT Brandon McKinney, S Mitch Meeuwsen, C Nick Mihlhauser, S Hanik Milligan, WR Robert Ortiz, DE Chase Page, RB Ray Perkins, LB Jonathan Pollard, G Wes Sims, DT Alvin Smith
Analysis: Don't worry. Nobody on this list had any Fantasy appeal anyway.
