Chapas added as insurance

News: The Lions released wide receiver Lance Long on Friday to clear a spot on the active roster for tight end Shaun Chapas, who was promoted from the team's practice squad. Chapas will serve as depth at the position as starting tight end Brandon Pettigrew is unlikely to play in Week 15.
Analysis: Chapas has spent most of the season on the Lions' practice squad after being among Dallas' final cuts during the preseason. He is not expected to make an immediate impact with Detroit and should be left untouched in all formats at this point.

Cowboys pare down roster

News: The Cowboys continued trimming their roster Friday in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: defensive linemen Clifton Geathers, Rob Callaway and Ben Bass; linebackers Baraka Atkins, Orie Lemon and Adrian Hamilton; wide receivers Saalim Hakim and Tim Benford; quarterback Rudy Carpenter; tight end Andrew Szczerba; defensive backs Eddie Whitley, Lionel Smith, Teddy Williams and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah; and running back Shaun Chapas.
Analysis: Some of these players were able to make an early impression in training camp and survive the first round of cuts. However, neither of them were ultimately expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left on waivers at this point.

Chapas set for NFL debut

News: Cowboys FB Shaun Chapas was called up from the practice squad on Wednesday and is expected to make his NFL debut in Sunday’s game against Arizona. Second-year pro Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, a converted FS turned WR who also returned punts and kickoffs, was released to make room for Chapas.
Analysis: Chapas, a seventh-round pick from Georgia, has been on the practice squad all year. The Cowboys have missed injured FB Tony Fiammetta (illness) the last two weeks. Chapas is just a blocking fullback and won't get many, if any, touches on offense. Ignore him in Fantasy.

Cowboys make final cuts

News: The Cowboys made their final cuts on Saturday in order to get down to the league-mandated 53 players, and there were some notable subtractions. Among the players released were FBs Chris Gronkowski, Jason Pociask Shaun Chapas and Isaiah Greenhouse; WRs Tysson Poots, Manuel Johnson, Lyle Leong and Teddy Williams; DBs Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Mario Butler, Chris Randle, Andrew Sendejo, Josh Thomas and Collin Zych; LBs Mike Balogun, Kenwin Cummings, Orie Lemon, and Brandon Williams; DE Jimmy Saddler-McQueen and RB Lonyae Miller.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above were expected to see regular playing time had they made the roster, so Fantasy owners should continue to ignore them in most formats.
