Dolphins experiencing changes in secondary

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/9/2014) A shakeup in the Dolphins secondary has landed Reshad Jones back as starting safety and Jimmy Wilson returning to the slot corner spot he played last year.

Jones worked with the first team Wednesday after serving with the backups earlier in the week, according to the Miami Herald. He had been suspended four games for violating the league drug policy. He might have taken longer to get back to his familiar role had usual slot corner Cortland Finnegan not missed practice with a neck injury

Wilson, meanwhile, feels fine in the slot. "I became real comfortable last year," Wilson said. "I played well. I feel like I was one of the best slot corners in the league last year. And it's not like I haven't been covering anyone one-on-one. I still do one-on-one every single day and all through camp."

(9/16/2014) The NFL and the NFL Players Association are finalizing a new drug policy Tuesday evening, and a formal announcement is expected to be made by Wednesday morning, CBSSports.com NFL insider Jason La Canfora reports.

The NFLPA has begun to notify players of the revamped suspensions under the new policy, including Browns receiver Josh Gordon officially having his suspension reduced to 10 games. Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey and Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick are among the handful of players who should be able to rejoin their respective teams Wednesday in preparation of playing in Week 3.

However, Dolphins defenders Dion Jordan and Reshad Jones are not expected to be affected by the change in policy, the Palm Beach Post reports, leaving their suspensions active for two more games.
