Adrian Clayborn hits IR with biceps injury

(9/12/2014) Buccaneers defensive lineman Adrian Clayborn was placed on injured reserve Friday, due to a season-ending biceps injury.

Clayborn was trying to work through the injury in recent days, having practiced on a limited basis both Wednesday and Thursday. However, the injury proved to be too much for him to keep going, necessitating an IR trip for the second time in three seasons.

(4/21/2014) Former first-round pick Adrian Clayborn will not have the fifth-year option on his contract exercised by the Buccaneers, ProFootballTalk.com reports, but it doesn't mean the Bucs will cut or trade him. He is expected to play out this season in Tampa Bay before having his contract situation re-examined by the team.

(12/30/2013) The Buccaneers yielded 42 points to the Saints on Sunday, but defensive end Adrian Clayborn can't be blamed. He was arguably the defensive player of the game.

Clayborn led both teams with 10 tackles, including six solos, recorded Tampa's lone sack and added a game-high four TFLs. He even paced the Buccaneers with two quarterback hits.

(12/16/2013) Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn totaled two tackles, including one sack during a 33-14 loss Week 15 vs. San Francisco. He finished with two quarterback hits.

Clayborn is up to a career-high 51 tackles (36 solo) through 14 games. He also has five sacks, which is 2 1/2 behind the career-high 7 1/2 he had as a rookie in 2011.

(9/23/2013) Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn recorded six tackles and a sack on Sunday of Week 3 at New England. Clayborn had five solo tackles in the 23-3 loss.

The 25-year-old Clayborn has sacks in back-to-back games for the Bucs. He has 14 tackles this season in three games. Clayborn now has 9 1/2 sacks for his career.

Defensive end Adrian Clayborn took down Drew Brees as he finished with five total tackles (three solo), one sack and a pass defended. Linebacker Lavonte David also made his impact felt with 1 1/2 sacks. He posted six total tackles (four solo), a tackle for loss, a pass defended and three quarterback hits. Cornerback Darrelle Revis posted four total tackles and one pass defended in a 16-14 defeat.

(8/1/2013) Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano told the media Thursday defensive end Adrian Clayborn will miss a few days with a groin injury but it's not as serious as first believed. Clayborn went down in practice yesterday, leaving an already thin pass rush corps with a potential giant hole to fill. That no longer appears to be the case.

(7/31/2013) Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn left practice Wednesday with a groin injury, reports the Tampa Tribune. Tampa Bay is counting on Clayborn to generate a pass rush; he had 7.5 sacks as a rookie in 2011 before missing 13 games last season with a knee injury.

The severity of his injury was not immediately clear.

(7/25/2013) Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said he could sense that defensive end Adrian Clayborn was a bit nervous participating in football drills Thursday according to Pewter Report but believes he did just enough work in every team period to begin feeling good about playing football again.

Clayborn suffered a season-ending knee injury last September and is expected to produce some serious pass rush heat for the Bucs this season. After practice he told 620 WDAE that he "felt good" and "normal" after moving around pretty well in the initial practice session. 


Adrian Clayborn hopes to be 'full-go' for camp

(7/23/2013) Buccaneers defensive end Adrian Clayborn says he hopes to be "full-go" for training camp. He practiced on a limited basis in spring practices including the team's mandatory minicamp and could be limited in contact drills when camp opens. Clayborn has added upper body muscle this offseason in hopes of being a stronger edge rusher. 

"Being a year in, I know myself, I feel like I know the defense a little bit more," Clayborn said per The Tampa Tribune. " ... I feel like we're going to make that next step."

(9/24/2012) Bucs coach Greg Schiano announced Monday defensive end Adrian Clayborn will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered Week 3 against the Cowboys. He will need surgery. Schiano said the team's response to losing Clayborn might be to play more snaps with three down linemen.
