A source told the Florida Times-Union that Watson had sports hernia surgery in late June and will begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list

(7/8/2014) New Jaguars linebacker Dekoda Watson, who missed OTAs and minicamp practices due to a groin injury, is expected to be available for the start of training camp, reports the Florida Times-Union. Watson projects to start at strong-side linebacker after recording 42 tackles, two sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in 15 games with Tampa Bay last year.

(4/18/2014) In the wake of the release of veteran linebacker Russell Allen, the Jaguars are expected to make Dekoda Watson their new starting strong-side linebacker, ESPN reports. He'll also play as a pass rusher and potentially line up as a defensive end on third downs. 

Watson had 42 total tackles, two sacks, an interception, a pass defensed, a forced fumble and a blocked punt with the Bucs last year.

(12/27/2013) The Buccaneers have five defensive players on the injury report for Week 17 against the Saints, and they could be without the majority of them Sunday. Among the five players, only Lavonte David (elbow) and defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) are probable for Sunday's game.

They are joined by the injury report by linebackers Ka'Lial Glaud (knee) and Dekoda Watson (groin), along with defensive  back Mark Barron (hamstring), all of whom are questionable for the game.

(12/16/2013) Buccaneers linebacker Dekoda Watson totaled a team-high 12 tackles (10 solo) during a 33-14 loss Week 15 vs. San Francisco. The 12 tackles were a season high for the fourth-year linebacker.

Watson has a career-high 37 tackles (28 solo), two sacks and one interception through 14 games.

(11/1/2013) The Buccaneers defense is dealing with a number of injuries in Week 9 against the Seahawks, based on Friday's injury report. Linebacker Mason Foster (hamstring), defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) and defensive back Keith Tandy (ankle) were all able to get through the week in practice and are probable, but represent less than half of the team's list of injured players.

(9/30/2013) Buccaneers linebackers Dekoda Watson, Mason Foster and Lavonte David were some of the team's top tacklers Week 4 vs. Arizona.

Watson tied cornerback Darrelle Revis with a team-high six tackles -- all solo. Mason Foster had five solo tackles, while David had three solo tackles and two assists. Watson had two tackles for loss, while Foster and David each had a pass defense.

Defensive lineman Gerald McCoy contributed a sack, fumble recovery and pass defense in the 13-10 loss, while cornerback Johnthan Banks had one solo tackle, his first career interception and two pass defenses.

(9/15/2013) Buccaneers linebacker Dekoda Watson recorded his first career interception during Sunday's contest against the Saints in Week 2.

Watson picked off a Drew Brees pass in the first quarter. He finished with two total tackles and one pass defended in a 16-14 defeat. He has five tackles and a sack through two games.

(9/8/2013) Buccaneers defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim and linebacker Dekoda Watson each recorded sacks on Sunday of Week 1 at the Jets.

Te'o-Nesheim and Watson took down quarterback Geno Smith in his first NFL start. Te'o-Nesheim finished with three tackles -- all solo -- and Watson had three as well with two being solo. Tampa Bay plays at home against the Saints Week 2.

(7/2/2013) Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said he's liked what he's seen from Dekoda Watson and could involve him on defense, giving him more duties beyond special-teams work. 

"I think Dekoda’s come a long way since last January," Schiano told the official team website. "You talk about a new scheme for the quarterbacks, this is a completely new scheme for Dekoda Watson. He’s locked in and learning that position and I think he’s doing a good job. He’s got real strong competition with Jonathan Casillas here but ... I think he’s made big strides. This is all in front of him right now. This training camp is huge for him."


Watson finds end zone for Bucs


(12/18/2011) Tampa Bay LB Dekoda Watson recorded four solo tackles in Saturday's game versus Dallas. His biggest contribution though was picking up a Tony Romo fumble and returning it for a touchdown, ending his team's scoring drought. Despite his efforts the Buccaneers ended up losing the game, 31-15.
