Moise Fokou to start at MLB over Colin McCarthy

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/3/2013) Titans coach Mike Munchak said Moise Fokou will be the starting middle linebacker Week 1 against the Steelers, and he has no immediate plans to replace him with Colin McCarthy, who will open the year as a reserve and special teams player.

"If Moise (Fokou) plays like we think he can, you hope not. You don’t have a crystal ball. I mean, can it happen? Sure. Anything’s possible," Munchak said of replacing Fokou with McCarthy, per The Tennessean. "You want them both to play well and see what happens. For now, Moise’s played well. He took advantage of the situation he was given, and now we just have to see how we play as a unit."

Colin McCarthy healthy but camp battle with Moise Fokou on the horizon

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2013) Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy claims he's healthy -- and coach Mike Munchak sees him as such -- but he'll have to work to earn his starting job back. After missing a chunk of last season thanks to ankle surgery and a concussion, McCarthy will take on Moise Fokou for the inside linebacker job in camp this summer

"We're not big on who's out there the first day and what does that mean," Munchak said according to The Tennessean. "It means nothing. The best guys are going to play without a doubt. They all know that. I think we'll have good competition there for that reason. If McCarthy is there one day and Fokou the next day, it's not going to mean anything until we get to the games. So it's just a matter of seeing how that thing goes."

Colin McCarthy 'excited' for training camp

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/14/2013) Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy can't wait until training camp opens, according to The Tennessean. McCarthy is looking to prove himself after an injury-plagued 2012 season.

"I’ll be excited, I’ll be hungry, I’ll be a lot of things," McCarthy said. "It was a rough year for me last year, playing through the injury and battling with that and not being able to be out there, and seeing the way we struggled sometimes on defense, it was tough. But it’s a new season, and that’s behind me. My injuries are behind me, and I have to prove to the naysayers and the people who think that injuries are a concern … I have to put those to rest."

McCarthy, who had January ankle surgery, said he will be 100 percent when camp opens July 25.

"I feel a lot more confident," McCarthy said. "I feel good mentally, and now it is just a matter of hitting somebody. Most importantly, I have to prove to myself (I am ready)."

McCarthy at '80 percent'

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/22/2013) Colin McCarthy told The Tennessean he's still not quite healthy following offseason ankle surgery but that symptoms following a concussion have passed. “If I had to put a percentage on it, I’d say I’m probably about 80 percent,” McCarthy said Tuesday. “I think the biggest issue I’m having is just some of the acceleration, some of the cuts, some of the backpedals, just coming in and out of breaks. I don’t feel 100 percent."
