News: The Lions continued trimming their roster Friday in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: defensive backs Alphonso Smith and Ross Weaver; defensive linemen Edmon McClam, Tracy Robertson and Ugo Chinasa; tight ends Alex Gottlieb and Austin Wells; wide receivers Wallace Miles and Nate Hughes; and linebacker Carmen Messina.
Analysis: Some of these players were able to make an early impression in training camp and survive the first round of cuts. However, neither of them were ultimately expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left on waivers at this point.
News: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys made some roster moves on Wednesday, including the release of DE/LB Alex Daniels and DB Ross Weaver. Both players have been sidelined by ankle injuries.
Analysis: Weaver was a practice squad player last season, and he didn't appear in a single game in the process. Fantasy owners should ignore him in all formats on Draft Day.
News: The Cowboys re-signed the following practice squad players to futures contracts on Monday. TE Jason Pociask, DE Alex Daniels, DB Ross Weaver, WR Troy Bergeron, WR Jeff Moturi and LB Kevin Smith.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to make much of a Fantasy impact in 2011, so ignore them in drafts come August.
News: The Cowboys added rookie CB Ross Weaver to their practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: Weaver went undrafted out of Michigan State, attended Dolphins training camp and was recently on Seattles practice squad. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy play.
