Falcons list Week 1 inactives

(9/7/2014) The Falcons' list of inactives for Week 1 against the Saints includes defensive lineman Corey Peters (Achilles), quarterback Sean Renfree, defensive back Javier Arenas, linebacker Nate Stupar, offensive lineman Ryan Schraeder, offensive lineman James Stone and linebacker Tyler Starr.

Renfree, Arenas, Stupar, Schraeder, Stone and Starr are all healthy scratches.


Two lone Falcons on injury report expected to play

(9/5/2014) The Falcons should have a full complement of players for Week 1 against the Saints, as they enter Sunday's game with only two players listed on the official injury report.

Defensive lineman Corey Peters (Achilles) and defensive back Dezmen Southward (concussion) were both able to participate in practice without limitation throughout the week and are officially probable for Sunday's game. There are no other players on the injury report for the game.

(7/23/2014) The Falcons placed defensive tackle Corey Peters and safety Zeke Motta on the PUP list to start camp. Peters is rehabbing from a torn Achilles he suffered last December, while Motta has a neck injury that could jeopardize his career, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"Corey will be rehabbing on the side to start training camp," coach Mike Smith said. "But we have been very optimistic about his work in the offseason with our guys in athletic performance, with the trainers and the doctors. As soon as they clear him, we’ll get him back and on the field. ... He’s has done a very good job with his rehabilitation."

(3/4/2014) The Falcons re-signed defensive tackle Corey Peters to a one-year deal. The 25-year-old played in 15 games last season, getting 46 tackles and five sacks.

He tore his Achilles in Week 16 and it's unclear if he'll be ready for training camp.

(12/24/2013) The Falcons DST could not stop the run in the loss at San Francisco, giving up 199 yards on 30 attempts or 6.6 yards per carry. Atlanta struggled especially after losing defensive tackle Corey Peters to a first-half Achilles injury. 

The Falcons DST forced no turnovers but got sacks from Peters, linebacker Stephen Nicholas and defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi.

San Francisco scored on four consecutive drives to start the second half and finished with 379 total yards. The injury-depleted Falcons DST wraps up the season vs. Carolina.

Peters and Baker are both dealing with knee injuries. Nicholas has a thigh issue and has been limited in practice all week.

(11/3/2013) Falcons defensive lineman Corey Peters injured his left knee in the third quarter Week 9 at Carolina and had to leave the game. He will have an MRI on the knee Monday.

Peters had two solo tackles before leaving. He has already equaled a career high with three sacks this season.

While linebacker Stephen Nicholas (thigh) has already been ruled out for Sunday's game, defensive back Robert Alford (ankle) and defensive lineman Corey Peters (shoulder) are both probable. Akeem Dents (ankle) is questionable as well.

(9/30/2013) Falcons defensive back Desmond Trufant and linebacker Joplo Bartu each made six tackles in the loss to the Patriots. Trufant had a pass defended, Bartu a tackle for loss.

They tied for second on the team behind linebacker Akeem Dent, who made eight tackles before leaving with an ankle injury. Safety Thomas DeCoud and defensive tackle Corey Peters added five tackles apiece.
