News: The Bears placed defensive back Sherrick McManis on injured reserve Tuesday with a knee injury.
Analysis: McManis was just a special teams contributor for Chicago and had more value to his real team than Fantasy IDP owners.
News: In a minor swap prior to the start of the regular season, the Texans traded defensive back Sherrick McManis to the Bears on Friday in exchange for for running back Tyler Clutts, the Houston Chronicle reports. McManis appeared in just nine games last season and posted five tackles.
Analysis: McManis moves closer to his former college, Northwestern, but is not expected to be a major Fantasy contributor. He has racked up just 19 total tackles in his career and should continue to be ignored in all Fantasy formats.
News: Texans DB Sherrick McManis recorded his first interception of the season in Week 5 against the Giants. McManis was also credited with a pass defended, but did not record a tackle in the 34-10 loss.
Analysis: McManis is a rookie out of Northwestern, who only plays on dime and nickel packages. He does not see enough snaps to use in Fantasy and can be left on the waiver wire heading into Week 6.
News: The Texans have signed fifth-round draft pick CB Sherrick McManis, who was selected with the 144th overall pick in this year's draft from Northwestern. He had 37 tackles and a team-high five interceptions last season for the Wildcats. He had nine interceptions in his career at Northwestern to rank sixth on the school's list. His 30 career pass breakups are third most in school history.
Analysis: McManis will compete for playing time in Houston this year, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all IDP leagues on Draft Day.
News: Following the pick of CB Kareem Jackson in Round 1 of the 2010 draft, the Texans used three other picks to address the defense -- and they went across the country to get their guys. Adding to the depth of the defense are Arizona DT Earl Mitchell, Miami (FL) LB Darryl Sharpton and Northwestern CB Sherrick McManis.
Analysis: While Sharpton has some long-term potential so long as he stays healthy, none of these three Texans rookies will be effective Fantasy options. Keep them off of seasonal rosters and only consider Sharpton with a late-round flier in the deepest of rookie-only drafts.
