Broncos release final injury report for Week 2

(9/12/2014) The Broncos should have at least six players listed on the injury report for Week 2.

Linebacker Danny Trevathan is the only player to be ruled out for the game. Guard Ben Garland is doubtful, and safety David Bruton Jr. is considered questionable heading into the game.

The Broncos did list six players as probable, and should have them available Sunday. Ryan Clady, Chris Harris Jr., Nate Irving, Manny Ramirez, DeMarcus Ware and Kayvon Webster should all play Week 2.


Broncos DST shows off new look

(9/8/2014) The revamped Broncos DST pressured Colts quarterback Andrew Luck into some mistakes Week 1. The unit hit Luck six times, getting 1.5 sacks from defensive end DeMarcus Ware and another sack from linebacker Nate Irving.

Safety Rahim Moore intercepted a pair of deflected passes. Linebacker Brandon Marshall, replacing the injured Danny Trevathan, made a game-high 10 tackles, two for loss, and broke up a pass. Denver stuffed Luck on a 4th-and-goal sneak attempt from the 1.

The rejuvenated Broncos DST gets a juicy matchup Week 2 when the Chiefs visit Denver.

Elway says Nate Irving will 'do a good job' at middle linebacker

(6/10/2014) Broncos general manager John Elway said Nate Irving is doing well in his move to starting middle linebacker, reports the Denver Post.

"Nate's doing fine, but middle linebacker — you've got to get the pads on," Elway said. "I still expect Nate to do a good job there. He's smart and understands the defense."

Irving suffered a concussion, and is being evaluated. He made a tackle on the first play of the game, and has not recorded any stats since the opening kickoff.

(11/22/2013) The Broncos list nine probables among the 11 players on their Friday injury report, including quarterback Peyton Manning (ankle) and target Wes Welker (neck, concussion).

Other offensive players deemed probable are tight end Joel Dreessen (knee) and offensive linemen J.D. Walton (ankle), Chris Kuper (ankle), Winston Justice (finger) and Orlando Franklin (ankle).

Among the defenders listd as probable are safety Duke Ihenacho (ankle) and linebacker Nate Irving (shoulder). Cornerback Champ Bailey (foot) is questionable.

(11/17/2013) The Broncos listed seven players as inactive for Sunday night's game vs. the Chiefs: cornerback Champ Bailey (foot), quarterback Zac Dysert, running back Ronnie Hillman, cornerback Tony Carter, center J.D. Walton (ankle), linebacker Nate Irving (shoulder) and guard Chris Kuper (ankle).

Bailey has played just two games all season.

They are end Robert Ayers (not injury related), safety Duke Ihenacho (ankle), linebacker Danny Trevathan (not injury related) and cornerback Kayvon Webster (thigh).

Irving injured his shoulder on a fourth quarter touchdown run by Ryan Mathews. The injury was diagnosed shortly after the play.

(9/24/2013) Linebacker Nate Irving led the Broncos with nine tackles, including six solo stops, in the win over Oakland. Denver also got big contributions from linebacker Danny Trevathan (6 tackles, 1 pass defended) and cornerbacks Chris Harris (5 tackles, 1 for loss) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (4 tackles, 1 pass defended).

Irving has 17 career tackles and no turnovers coming into this year.


Nate Irving has 'great opportunity' awaiting him

(7/15/2013) Broncos linebacker Nate Irving is in line to make significant contributions for the first time in his young career in 2013, as the Broncos are looking for the third-year pro to emerge at middle linebacker.

"In Nate’s defense, (he) has not had a great opportunity yet. He’ll get that this year," Broncos coach John Fox said during OTAs, per NFL.com. "I see great growth in him already."

While Irving spent a great deal of the offseason working with the first-team defense, he knows heading into training camp he has to earn his spot in the starting lineup.

"It doesn’t mean anything, because all it is is the opportunity. They didn’t give me the spot, they didn’t tell me, ‘It’s yours to lose,’ or anything like that," Irving said. "They just gave me the opportunity, and with the opportunity, I’m looking to take advantage of it."


Irving hit hard, suffers concussion

(9/23/2012) Denver linebacker Nate Irving was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Texans in Week 3 after suffering a concussion. Irving sustained the injury while making a tackle on Trindon Holliday during punt coverage late in the second quarter. Medical trainer had to remove the facemask out of his helmet as he was assisted back to the locker room for further examinations.
