Report: Vikings sign S Taylor Mays

(3/24/2015) The Vikings have signed safety Taylor Mays to a one-year contract, according to ESPN.

Mays spent his first season with the 49ers before joining the Bengals for four years. The 27-year-old has registered 98 total tackles, one sack, six passes defensed and one forced fumble during his time in the NFL.

(3/18/2015) Safety Taylor Mays is set to visit the Vikings on Thursday, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. The former Bengal is reportedly having dinner with the team Wednesday prior to his free agent visit.

Mays, 27, has registered 98 total tackles, one forced fumble and six passes defensed over his five-year career.

(3/8/2015) The Vikings and safety Taylor Mays have mutual interest with one another, reports The Minneapolis Star Tribune's Matt Vensel. 

The Vikings are looking for a safety to play next to Harrison Smith, though it's unknown if Mays is considered a starter by Minnesota's staff. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder played under Vikings coach Mike Zimmer in Cincinnati when Zimmer was the defensive coordinator there.

Mays played for new Vikings coach Mike Zimmer in Cincinnati. He could mix in as a third safety behind Harrison Smith and Robert Blanton if he were to re-unite with Zimmer.


Bengals battered up heading into New Orleans

(11/14/2014) The ruled out statuses of running back Giovani Bernard (hip/clavicle) and linebacker Vontaze Burfict (knee) headline the injury report submitted Friday by the Bengals for their Sunday game. But other Bengals are banged up as well.

Included is offensive tackle Andre Smith (ankle), who is doubtful. The questionables are linebacker Rey Maualuga (hamstring), who practiced in full Friday, and cornerback Terence Newman (knee), who has been out all week.

The probables are tight end Jermaine Gresham (thigh), cornerback Leon Hall (concussion), safety Taylor Mays (foot) and offensive lineman Mike Pollak (knee).

(10/30/2013) Five Bengals are listed as questionable for Thursday's game at Miami: linebacker Michael Boley (hamstring), running back Rex Burkhead (hamstring), defensive end Wallace Gilberry (groin), receiver Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) and left tackle Andrew Whitworth (knee). 

The Bengals ruled out four players: cornerback Leon Hall (Achilles), safety Taylor Mays (shoulder), defensive tackle Devon Still (elbow) and linebacker Rey Maualuga (concussion, knee).

(9/4/2013) Taylor Mays is a safety who plays like a linebacker. Now he's getting a chance to actually play linebacker for the Bengals, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

A season-ending shoulder injury to linebacker Emmanuel Lamur has forced Mays to take snaps at that position in practice in nickel and dime packages. And he's certainly not complaining about it.

"I've been picking it up quick," Mays said. "I feel good about it. Some stuff you have to learn on the field but I have to get it done."

The Bengals have only five healthy linebackers for their opener in Chicago.
