by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/14/2014) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman's 2014 season could be over before it even started. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, there is a "real possibility" that Bowman will miss the final seven games of the season due to a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, which he suffered during last season's NFC Championship game.

Bowman underwent surgery in February and has been experiencing knee pain recently, which is why the 49ers have yet to activate him from the physically unable to perform list. He underwent an MRI earlier in the week, which checked out "fine," but now it appears his season is in jeopardy. If Bowman isn't cleared to practice by Nov. 18, he won't be able to play the remainder of the season.

49ers don't expect NaVorro Bowman back anytime soon

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(10/7/2014) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who's rehabbing from a severe knee injury, is eligible to return to practice at any point from Oct. 14 to Nov. 24, notes the San Francisco Chronicle. The team has three weeks to add him to the 53-man roster once he starts practicing.

"I think at some point, he'll eventually play [this season]," defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told the paper. "Right now, it's still later than sooner."

Fangio said the rehab is going well but added that once Bowman starts practicing, he'll need a couple weeks "to get his legs under him and feel comfortable playing on his leg."

NaVorro Bowman begins sprinting

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/13/2014) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman began the sprinting portion of his ACL rehab this week, NFL.com reports.

"I must admit there's times when I look out of my peripheral vision and see them doing their workouts on the turf over there," head coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday. "It looked like he was moving pretty good, so that's very positive."

On the PUP while continuing to recover from his knee injury, Bowman may be able to return by Week 7 if his rehab continues to go smoothly. The 49ers play a tough road game in Denver that week. The team does have a bye the following week, so it may make sense to hold the All-Pro linebacker out until Week 9 if he's not 100 percent after his mandatory six weeks on PUP are up.
