NaVorro Bowman begins sprinting

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/13/2014) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman began the sprinting portion of his ACL rehab this week, NFL.com reports.

"I must admit there's times when I look out of my peripheral vision and see them doing their workouts on the turf over there," head coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday. "It looked like he was moving pretty good, so that's very positive."

On the PUP while continuing to recover from his knee injury, Bowman may be able to return by Week 7 if his rehab continues to go smoothly. The 49ers play a tough road game in Denver that week. The team does have a bye the following week, so it may make sense to hold the All-Pro linebacker out until Week 9 if he's not 100 percent after his mandatory six weeks on PUP are up.

(8/25/2014) The 49ers have officially placed linebacker NaVorro Bowman on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ESPN reports. Bowman will be ineligible to play in the team's first six regular-season games as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.

Niners restructure NaVorro Bowman's deal

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/22/2014) 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman restructured his deal with the team, converting over $3 million of his salary into a signing bonus, creating over $2.6 million in cap space.

Bowman expects to not play until the middle of the 2014 season after tearing his ACL and MCL in the NFC title game back in January.

ESPN thinks the cap space might have been made to give Colin Kaepernick a rich contract extension.

NaVorro Bowman targeting midseason return

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(4/3/2014) Recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the playoffs, 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman expects to return around the middle of the 2014 season

"Feeling good, feeling good. I'm blessed to be walking," Bowman told ESPN. "I put the hard work in already, playing through the pain, trying to get the knee straight. But it's coming along."

The 49ers won't rush back one of their stars.

"I hope to be ready when they expect me to be ready," he said. "They're not going to rush me. Probably about the middle of the season."

NaVorro Bowman doing well in rehab

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/26/2014) 49ers coach Jom Harbaugh said Wednesday at the NFL owners meeting that injured linebacker NaVorro Bowman (knee) is doing well with his rehab.

Bowman tore his ACL and MCL in the NFC Championship Game and is expected to return around midseason this year.

"Apparently, NaVorro is doing really well, which is no surprise because he's such a tremendous athlete," Harbaugh said. "You just knew if anybody would be doing well at this point it would be him."

Midseason return expected for NaVorro Bowman

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/20/2014) The most likely scenario for 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman is a midseason return, coach Jim Harbaugh said. Harbaugh would not rule out an earlier return for Bowman, who tore his ACL and MCL in the NFC Championship Game.

“I wouldn’t count NaVorro Bowman out of anything,” Harbaugh said. “He’s a supreme athlete, a world-class athlete among world-class athletes. The way he moves, his strength, his powers of healing. I wouldn’t count him out of anything. Realistically, halfway through the season, something like that would be more realistic. But I never underestimate NaVorro Bowman.”

49ers fear NaVorro Bowman has MCL injury too

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/20/2014) The 49ers fear linebacker NaVorro Bowman hurt his MCL in addition to his ACL in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, reports ProFootballTalk.com. An MCL injury would delay Bowman's timetable for surgery, making it less likely he's ready for the 2014 season opener, the report said.

An MRI will show the full extent of the damage Bowman suffered trying to recover a fumble near his goal line.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

49ers DST scores late

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/24/2013) The 49ers DST buckled down when it mattered the most. With Atlanta threatening to tie or pull ahead with just over a minute left, linebacker NaVorro Bowman intercepted a deflected Matt Ryan pass and returned it 89 yards for the clinching touchdown.

On the play, cornerback Tramaine Brock blanketed receiver Harry Douglas and knocked the ball up in the air. Brock got his own interception on the game's final play, snagging a Hail Mary in the end zone.

San Francisco finished with those two interceptions and got a sack from defensive tackle Justin Smith. Thus the 49ers came through for Fantasy owners despite giving up 402 yards.

The 49ers DST visits Arizona in Week 17.
