Dolphins defense missing just two for Week 13

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2013) The Dolphins defense is missing two defensive backs for Week 13 against the Jets, as Dimitri Patterson (groin) and Jamar Taylor (hamstring) are unable to suit up for Sunday's game. The rest of the team's injured defenders were able to play through their issues, however, headlined by defensive back Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring), who was considered questionable for the game.

Defensive back Jimmy Wilson (abdomen), linebacker Koa Misi (knee) and defensive lineman Jared Odrick (knee) were all active as expect, as all three were considered probable for the game.

Dolphins DST gets shellacked

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/1/2013) The injury-depleted Dolphins DST seemed helpless to stop Drew Brees and the Saints on Monday night. New Orleans rolled up 38 points and 465 total yards in the blowout.

Safety Jimmy Wilson forced a Darren Sproles fumble, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe recovering. Defensive ends Jared Odrick and Olivier Vernon each sacked Brees. But it was a long night for Miami's defense, which was on the field nearly 34 minutes.

The Dolphins DST has an easier matchup Week 5 against Baltimore.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/8/2013) Jared Odrick has received the nod from the Dolphins to start at defensive tackle in Week 1 against the Browns. He had been running neck-and-neck with Randy Starks for the starting position.

Odrick, who split time between tackle and end in 2012, played in all 16 games with 12 starts and recorded five sacks.

Receiver Mike Wallace's status remains unknown since he missed the Hall of Fame game with a groin injury, and defensive lineman Randy Starks (knee) and offensive lineman John Jerry (knee) and cornerback Jamar Taylor (hernia) are out.

Jared Odrick working at defensive tackle

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/21/2013) Dolphins defensive lineman Jared Odrick spent all offseason working as a defensive tackle, reports the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The report says Odrick, a two-year starter at defensive end, could be moved inside permanently, sharing playing time with Paul Soliai and Randy Starks.

Odrick extends sack streak

(11/20/2011) Miami DL Jared Odrick had three tackles and a sack during the Dolphins' 35-8 victory over Buffalo in Week 11. Odrcik took down Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to register a sack in his third consecutive game. He now has four sacks this season.

Odrick has two sacks in three games

(11/6/2011) Dolphins DL Jared Odrick totaled his second sack in his last three games in Week 9 at Kansas City.

Odrick officially on IR

(10/22/2010) The Dolphins placed rookie DE Jared Odrick on injured reserve with a foot injury.

Odrick might end up on IR

(10/21/2010) Miami Dolphins first-round draft pick Jared Odrick is hurt again, and the latest injury might sideline him the rest of the season. "He's done for a long time," coach Tony Sparano said Thursday. Odrick was on the verge of returning from a broken right leg when he hurt his left foot at the end of practice Wednesday. The Dolphins haven't decided whether to put the rookie defensive end on injured reserve, which would end his season. "We'll see," Sparano said. "Right now we're going to sit tight for a little while." Odrick's absence has meant more playing time for Tony McDaniel and Paul Soliai in the defensive line.

Report: Odrick to be on IR

(10/20/2010) NFL Network is reporting Dolphins DL Jared Odrick (ankle) re-injured himself and he could be out for the season. He was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday, but he did not finish practice because of the injury. Odrick was hurt in the season opener against the Bills, when a player rolled into his leg. The original timetable was 4-6 weeks.

Odrick not ready just yet

(10/17/2010) Dolphins DL Jared Odrick (ankle) was listed among the inactives again for Week 6 at Green Bay. The rookie has been out since hurting himself in Week 1.

Odrick to return in Week 6?

(10/15/2010) Dolphins DL Jared Odrick (ankle), who missed the previous three games, was listed as questionable for Week 6 against the Packers. He was injured in the season opener at Buffalo.

Odrick unsure of when he'll return

(9/15/2010) Jared Odrick is unsure how he broke his leg, and he's unsure when he'll be back in the lineup. The Miami Dolphins' rookie defensive end wore a cast Wednesday from just below his right knee to his toes. He was hurt in the season opener Sunday at Buffalo. "It was not clear-cut what happened," Odrick said. "There were a bunch of guys in one area. I think somebody fell on it." On Tuesday, a person familiar with the injury said Odrick is expected to miss one or two games. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins generally don't discuss injuries. "We're just taking it week to week," said Odrick, the team's first-round draft pick. "I'm not going to rush it, but at the same I'm not going to milk it, because I want to get back. ... It's a matter of me dealing with the pain."

Conflicting reports on Odrick

(9/14/2010) NFL Network is reporting Dolphins DL Jared Odrick will miss six weeks with a broken right fibula. However, the Miami Herald has a contradictory report stating Odrick might only miss two weeks with a hairline fracture. A source told the Herald that Odrick's injury is not "serious." The 2010 first-round pick was injured in the third quarter of Sunday's season opener against the Bills.

Odrick likely out Week 2

(9/14/2010) The Miami Herald reports that Dolphins rookie DL Jared Odrick has a bone bruise in his right leg and is unlikely to play in Week 2 at Minnesota.

Odrick's status undetermined

(9/13/2010) Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said on Monday that he does not know whether LB Channing Crowder (groin) or DE Jared Odrick (right thigh bruise) will play this week at Minnesota. Crowder would likely be replaced by Tim Dobbins . If Odrick can’t play Miami might move NT Randy Starks to DE and start NT Paul Soliai.

Odrick suffers bruised foot

(9/12/2010) Dolphins rookie DE Jared Odrick suffered a deep bone bruise in his foot during the third quarter of Miami's Week 1 win at Buffalo.

Dolphins sign rookie Odrick

(7/29/2010) Jared Odrick's agent says the Miami Dolphins' first-round draft pick has agreed to terms and will take part in the team's first training camp practice Friday. A defensive end from Penn State, Odrick agreed to a five-year deal worth $7.13 million guaranteed, and the package could be worth up to $13 million, agent Drew Rosenhaus said Thursday. Odrick is the front-runner for a starting job as a replacement for veteran Phillip Merling, who hurt his Achilles' tendon this month and will miss the entire season. The 6-foot-5, 304-pound Odrick was the Big Ten defensive player of the year in 2009, and the Dolphins made him the 28th pick in the draft.

Dolphins draft Odrick

(4/23/2010) The Dolphins selected Penn State DL Jared Odrick in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. The 6-foot-5, 304-pound Odrick was selected with the 28th pick. It came after the Dolphins moved down 16 spots in the first round to acquire a second-round choice and reserve LB Tim Dobbins from the San Diego Chargers. Playing tackle in Penn State's 4-3 scheme, Odrick was the Big Ten defensive player of the year in 2009. He had 43 tackles and seven sacks, and Joe Paterno said Odrick was as good as any defensive tackle he had coached. Odrick said he can line up at either end or tackle in the Dolphins' 3-4 defense. The Dolphins are deeper at end than at tackle, where starter Jason Ferguson is 35 and will miss the first eight games of the season because of a suspension. GM Jeff Ireland was noncommittal about where the Dolphins expect Odrick to line up. "We think he can play both inside at outside," Ireland said. "This guy has a tremendous motor. He's a good inside pass rusher. He's very powerful, he's productive, he's explosive and he's versatile."
