(9/19/2014) Redskins kicker Kai Forbath was limited throughout the week in practice and is once again listed on the injury report for Week 3 against the Eagles as questionable with a groin injury.

Forbath kicked through the issue in Week 2, as he connected on field goals from 42 and 36 yards out, while turning kickoff duties over to Tress Way.

(9/14/2014) Redskins kicker Kai Forbath was able to take the field in Week 2 against the Jaguars, though a groin injury prevented him from kicking off Sunday.

He was well enough to serve as the place kicker, however, and had a perfect game in a 41-10 win. Forbath nailed both of his field goals, from 42 and 36 yards, and was also perfect on all five extra-point attempts in the game.

Washington's next game is set for Week 3 against the Eagles.

Redskins placekicker competition going down to the wire

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2014) Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the placekicker competition between Kai Forbath and rookie Zach Hocker will come down to Thursday's preseason finale against the Bucs.

"That’s another tight battle," Gruden said, according to The Washington Post. "It’s a close battle. Both of them have done a very good job in my opinion. I don’t think we can go wrong either way with the place kicker. Unfortunately, we’ll probably have to choose one, and that’ll come down to Thursday night. I like both of them. I feel good about kicking with both of them in a game. So, that’ll be a tough call."

Redskins kicking competition not yet decided

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/8/2014) The Redskins' kicker competition between veteran Kai Forbath and rookie Zach Hocker is expected to go until the final preseason game, coach Jay Gruden told the Washington Post Friday.

Hocker outshined Forbath in Thursday's preseason opener, nailing both of his field-goal attempts and kicking it out of the end zone on his first kickoff. Forbath, on the other hand, missed a 46-yard field goal and had another miss waived off on a penalty. He also sent a kickoff out of bounds, though Gruden said he isn't close to making a decision.

"Well, now we'll look at the tape, but obviously we kicked off one time out of bounds and missed the field goal," Gruden said. "We got a delay of game [penalty]. [Hocker] had a great couple good kickoffs and a good tackle and made [two] field goals. Kai, you know, he had a kickoff out of bounds, like I said, so that’s a decision that’s going to come after the fourth preseason game."

Forbath has been a solid kicker in his career, making 35 of 40 attempts over two seasons.
