Ravens announce Week 8 inactives vs. Bengals

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/26/2014) The Ravens have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday's Week 8 matchup with the Bengals: tight end Owen Daniels (wrist), defensive lineman Chris Canty (wrist), running back Bernard Pierce, cornerback Chykie Brown, linebacker Arthur Brown and offensive linemen Gino Gradkowski and Jah Reid.

Pierce's de-activation comes as a surprise, but he's averaged 2.1 and 2.6 yards per carry in the team's last two games, though he's scored a touchdown in each. The Ravens' goal-line looks could shift to Lorenzo Taliaferro with Pierce unavailable.

Daniels and Canty had already been ruled out, but the Ravens are otherwise very healthy heading into the key matchup against the Bengals. Four players listed as probable are active for the game, including Steve Smith (not injury related), linebacker Daryl Smith (not injury related) and offensive linemen Eugene Monroe (knee) and Kelechi Osemele (knee).

Asa Jackson taking the lead for nickel corner job

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/9/2014) In the battle for the Ravens' nickel corner job, Asa Jackson has taken the lead over Chykie Brown, ESPN.com reports Saturday.

Jackson has been impressive in training camp, and he picked off a pass in the first preseason game against the 49ers. Brown has been filling in for starting corner Lardarius Webb, who has missed time due to a back injury, but seems likely to open the season as a reserve at this point.

Chykie Brown returns to practice Monday

(7/28/2014) Ravens defensive back Chykie Brown returned to practice Monday, the Baltimore Sun reports. Brown missed Sunday's practice due to a tweaked hamstring.

Injuries battering Ravens secondary before critical clash

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/8/2013) The Ravens could be without two starters in the secondary for their most important game of the season. Neither cornerback Jimmy Smith (thigh) nor safety Corey Graham (calf) practiced Thursday, which doesn't bode well for their availability against AFC North rival Cincinnati on Sunday. A loss would all but knock Baltimore out of the race in the division.

The absence of either Smith or Graham from that game would elevate little-used Chykie Brown into a starting role opposite Lardarius Webb or at least into action as a nickel back.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/20/2013) The Ravens have listed the following players active for Week 7 against the Steelers despite dealing with injuries:  defensive back Chykie Brown (thigh), defensive lineman Chris Canty (thigh), linebacker Albert McClellan (shoulder), defensive lineman Haloti Ngata (elbow), defensive lineman Marcus Spears (knee), linebacker Courtney Upshaw (foot) and defensive back Lardarius Webb (thigh).

Ravens report 'very questionable'

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/11/2013) The Ravens have 12 players on their Friday injury report, but only one listed as doubtful for the Sunday clash against the Packers - little-used nose tackle Terrence Cody (neck). The others are questionable.

Among them are defensive players cornerback Chykie Brown (thigh), free safety Michael Huff (back), linebacker Albert McClellan (shoulder) and tackles Haloti Ngata (hip) and Marcus Spears (knee).

Ravens could be down a few players in Week 3

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/20/2013) The Ravens will likely be without rookie linebacker Arthur Brown (chest), defemsive tackle Brandon Williams (toe) and defensive end Chris Canty (thigh) heading into Week 3 at home against the Texans. All three missed Friday's practice and were labeled doubtful for Sunday. Center Ryan Jensen (foot) also did not participate in practice and was officially ruled out for Week 3.

After missing practice on Wednesday, cornerback Chykie Brown (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day on Friday and was ruled questionable for Sunday.

Brown, who missed four games in the 2010 season with a broken forearm, had two career interceptions with the Longhorns. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound McPhee started in all 25 games at MSU.
