Jets bring in TE Steve Maneri

(6/15/2015) The Jets have signed veteran tight end Steve Maneri, who was let go in January by New England.

Maneri has had limited opportunities to play with his previous teams. He has just six catches for 52 yards during his career, nearly all of which came with Kansas City in 2012.

(1/17/2015) The Patriots announced a pair of minor roster moves prior to Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Colts, per the Boston Globe. The team signed defensive lineman Joe Vellano to the 53-man active roster. In a corresponding move, they released tight end Steve Maneri.

(1/10/2015) The Patriots have deemed the following players as inactive for Saturday's divisional round game against the Ravens: Josh Boyce, Jordan Devey, Zach Moore, Steve Maneri, Cameron Fleming, James White and Jonas Gray.

Gray, who 89 carries for 412 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season, is dealing with an ankle injury. Gray was listed as probable throughout the week.

The Patriots are 7-point favorites against Baltimore Saturday.


Report: Patriots add QB, TE to roster

(12/17/2014) The Patriots have added to their roster quarterback Garrett Gilbert and tight end Steve Maneri, according to the Boston Globe.

Gilbert is a rookie who was cut by St. Louis before the regular season. Maneri earned some playing time with Kansas City in 2012 and 2013, as well as Chicago this season.

(8/30/2014) The Patriots released a mix of veterans and rookies Saturday in cutting their roster down to the required 53.

The offensive players now gone are wide receivers Jeremy Gallon and Josh Boyce, tight end Steve Maneri, linemen Chris Martin, Jon Halapio and Braxston Cave and running backs Roy Finch and Jonas Gray.

Cut from the defensive side are linebackers Taylor McCuller, Ja'Gared Davis and Steve Beauharnais, linemen Eathyn Manumaleuna, L.T. Tuipulotu, Jake Bequette and Jerel Worthy and defensive backs Shamiel Gary, Kanorris Davis and Dax Swanson.

(2/14/2014) The Buccaneers have signed former Bears D.J. Moore and Steve Maneri. The team announced the moves. Moore, a safety, previously played for coach Lovie Smith in Chicago, landing eight interceptions in 2010 and 2011 combined. Maneri, a lineman-turned-tight end, is a blocking type who has six career receptions.

(10/28/2013) The Bears announced a slew of roster moves Monday. They signed quarterback Jordan Palmer and linebacker Larry Grant to the active roster.

In order to clear roster spots, the Bears waived tight end Steve Maneri and cornerback C.J. Wilson, who was re-signed to the practice squad. 

The Bears also signed wide receiver Terrence Toliver to the practice squad, while terminating the contract of wide receiver Ricardo Lockette.

(10/10/2013) The Bears released their inactive list for Week 6 against the Giants Thursday, and it featured three players dealing with injuries. Among them are defensive backs Charles Tillman (knee) and Anthony Walters (hamstring), as well as defensive lineman Stephen Paea (toe).

The remainder of the inactive list is offensive linemen James Brown and Jonathan Scott, tight end Steve Maneri, and defensive lineman Cornelius Washington

Paea is the most significant name among the Bears inactives. Without him, the interior pass rush may be limited. Walters had been ruled out on the team's final injury report.
