(12/29/2013) The Panthers defense played well Sunday in Week 17 at Atlanta, highlighted by nine sacks in a 21-20 victory.

The leader of the defense was Greg Hardy with four sacks. Charles Johnson also added two sacks. Melvin White also had an interception for a touchdown.

The Panthers are off until the Divisional Round of the playoffs. They locked up the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye after winning the NFC South title.

Panthers DST stiffens in red zone

(11/19/2013) The Panthers DST held New England to two touchdowns on five red-zone trips in their 24-20 win. The unit came up with two takeaways and two sacks.

It wasn't the dominant performance we've gotten used to from Carolina, but the Panthers were facing an offense that averaged 34.8 points over its previous four games. And Carolina played without defensive end Charles Johnson for much of the second half.

The Panthers DST got a bonus on the game's final play, when safety Robert Lester intercepted Tom Brady. Officials threw a flag against Carolina, then picked it up, preserving the turnover.

The Panthers DST should be fearsome again Week 12 at Miami.
