LB Brian Cushing among injured Texans cleared to play

(11/30/2014) Texans linebacker Brian Cushing (knee) is active for the game against Tennessee after being listed as probable. He has 64 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in eight games.

Also suiting up for Houston are linebacker Max Bullough (hamstring), offensive tackle Tyson Clabo (foot), cornerback Johnathan Joseph (knee), safety Kendrick Lewis (knee), linebacker Mike Mohamed (hip), cornerback Darryl Morris (thigh), nose tackle Ryan Pickett (back), safety D.J. Swearinger (ankle) and linebacker Jeff Tarpinian (ankle).


Probables make up most of injury report issued by Texans

(11/28/2014) The typically lengthy injury report released Friday by the Texans for their Sunday game against Tennessee has confirmed that linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee) will not play. Neither will cornerback Kareem Jackson (knee). Linebacker Akeem Dent (neck) is questionable.

The other players on the report are probable. They are linebackers Jeff Tarpinian (knee), Max Bullough (hamstring), Brian Cushing (knee) and Mike Mohamed (hip), cornerbacks Darryl Morris (thigh) and Johnathan Joseph (knee), tackle Tyson Clabo (foot), running back Arian Foster (groin) and safeties D.J. Swearinger (ankle) and Kendrick Lewis (knee).


Texans S Kendrick Lewis off to great start

(10/7/2014) Texans safety Kendrick Lewis has created four of the team's NFL-leading 12 takeways. He has three forced fumbles, an interception, a fumble recovery and one pass defensed to go with 30 tackles in five games.

Texans struggle to stop the run during Week 3 loss

(9/21/2014) The Texans defense had its worst performance of the season during a 30-17 loss Week 3 at N.Y. Giants. Not only did the Giants total three touchdowns and three field goals, but they finished with 419 yards, which included 176 rushing yards from Rashad Jennings.

The Texans did force a fumble down inside the 5-yard line as the Giants were driving for a score in the first half. They also got a sack from J.J. Watt, while linebacker Brian Cushing finished with a team-high 17 tackles (eight solo). Safety Kendrick Lewis had a team-high 11 solo tackles and finished with 12 total tackles and one forced fumble.

The Texans will look to rebound Week 4 vs. Buffalo.


Kendrick Lewis hooks up with Houston

(3/22/2014) The Texans have signed safety Kendrick Lewis to a one-year contract. The deal is worth $795,000 with $100,000 guaranteed, per the Houston Chronicle.

Lewis started all but three games with Kansas City since that team snagged him in the fifth round of the 2010 draft. He will rejoin former Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel, who is currently toiling as the defensive coordinator for Houston.

(3/2/2014) The Chiefs aren't expected to re-sign safety Kendrick Lewis, reports ESPN.com. Lewis "had a big hand" in the secondary giving up "one long pass play after another last season," the report said.

Lewis had 56 tackles and an interception in 2013.

(11/3/2013) Chiefs safety Kendrick Lewis finished Sunday with a team-high nine tackles in the team's 23-13 win over the Bills. Lewis intercepted Jeff Tuel in the second quarter, his first interception of the year. 

The Chiefs are on bye next week, then travel to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 11.

Lewis was limited Wednesday and Friday, but did not participate in the Thursday session. He has started every game this season for the unbeaten Chiefs.
