News: The Bills signed cornerback Crezdon Butler Wednesday.
Analysis: Butler takes the roster spot of Terrence McGee, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Butler gives the Bills secondary depth right now and doesn't have any Fantasy appeal in IDP formats.
News: The Redskins signed cornerback David Jones on Tuesday and waived injured DB Crezdon Butler. Butler was injured Week 3 and Jones will help bolster the secondary.
Analysis: Butler left the Week 3 game against the Bengals with a hamstring injury. He has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Washington cornerbacks Cedric Griffin and Crezdon Butler left the Week 3 loss against Cincinnati with hamstring injuries. Griffin did not make a tackle in the game before leaving and Butler also finished without a stop.
Analysis: The Washington secondary is banged up and doing a poor job for the Redskins. Injuries to Griffin and Butler, both backups, is not going to help. Butler is not a player to own or care about in Fantasy IDP formats at this time.
News: The Redskins filled the final spot on their 53-man roster Saturday by signing defensive back Crezdon Butler. Butler, a fifth-round draft pick in 2010, played in four games as a rookie, then was waived last year and signed with the Cardinals. Butler then hurt his ankle in Arizona's season opener and was played on injured reserve, ending his season. He returned for training camp this year but was cut Friday.
Analysis: Butler gives Washington five cornerbacks and could receive an opportunity for additional playing time after defensive back Tanard Jackson was suspended indefinitely. But Butler is not expected to be a key Fantasy contributor and should be passed over in all formats for now.
News: The Cardinals placed DB Crezdon Butler (ankle) on injured reserve on Tuesday. To take his place on the roster, DL Ronald Talley was promoted from the practice squad.
Analysis: Butler is not a player who ever had much of a chance to become useful in IDP formats. He should remain unowned in all leagues.
News: The Cardinals made some roster moves on Monday, highlighted by the official signing of RB Chester Taylor. The team also claimed CB Crezdon Butler from the Steelers and CB Korey Lindsey from the waivers. To make room for the additions, the team released TE Stephen Spach, LB Quan Sturdivant and DE Ronald Talley.
Analysis: The additional DBs are expected to round-out the secondary, but they won't have much Fantasy value moving forward. Taylor has the chance to be one of the more productive No. 2 RBs in all of football, but he has much learning to do within the offense. Fantasy owners should keep up with the situations, but don't pull the trigger on any of the three options for now.
News: The five players released today by the Steelers include cornerback Crezdon Butler, tight end John Gilmore and defensive lineman Jarrett Crittenton.
Analysis: None of these guys were or are expected to be Fantasy relevant. Leave them off rosters.
News: Fifth-round pick Crezdon Butler signed his rookie deal with the Steelers, ensuring he'll be with the team when training camp opens. The former Clemson Tiger is expected to battle for a roster spot this summer.
Analysis: Butler's not expected to post relevant Fantasy stats. Keep him off rosters.
News: The Steelers drafted five players to help pad their defensive depth: Va. Tech LB Jason Worilds (second round), Ohio State LB Thaddeus Gibson (fourth round), Clemson CB Crezdon Butler (fifth round), Utah LB Stevenson Sylvester (fifth round) and Ohio State DT Doug Worthington (seventh round).
Analysis: None of these defenders appear to be impact players this season, but outside pass rushers can develop into tremendous talents in Pittsburgh as evidenced by James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley, among others. For that reason alone Worilds, Gibson and Sylvester are worth late-round picks in rookie-only drafts. Otherwise keep these Steelers rookies off of Fantasy rosters.
