News: The 49ers signed defensive back Craig Dahl to a three-year contract Saturday, finding an apparent replacement after Dashon Goldson received a five-year deal from the Buccaneers last week. Dahl, 27, spent the past four seasons with the Rams and registered 78 tackles and an interception in 2012. "It's a program I'm really familiar with, players and coaches I'm familiar with how they operate and the basis of what their team fundamentals are," he said.
Analysis: Dahl said he had discussions with the Rams, but considered the visit to San Francisco so positive he wanted to sign as soon as he could "to get things rolling." He is eager to play in a secondary with hard-hitting safety Donte Whitner and the others. Dahl is also expected to participate on special teams this season, but is still not a major Fantasy force outside of deeper IDP formats.
News: Rams defensive back Craig Dahl recorded his first interception of the season in Week 12 against the Cardinals. He picked off quarterback Ryan Lindley in the third quarter and also posted two tackles in the 31-17 win.
Analysis: Dahl has 54 tackles through 11 games this season and has low-end appeal in Fantasy. Leave him for the deepest of IDP formats heading into Week 13 against the 49ers.
News: Rams S Craig Dahl had 12 tackles (10 solo) in the Rams' 24-10 loss to San Francisco. He also added a forced fumble.
Analysis: It was Dahl's first double-digit tackle performance since Week 9 against San Francisco in 2010, which came in overtime. He's a low-end Fantasy option in IDP formats this year, as tackles haven't come as frequently or consistently as they did in 2010.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl led the Rams with nine tackles in Week 1 against the Eagles. He was not credited with a pass defensed in the game.
Analysis: Dahl remains a good source for tackles out of the secondary and should remain a solid play in deeper IDP formats as a result. He won't do much else, but is worth keeping around.
News: St. Louis safety Craig Dahl posted five tackles in the Rams' 16-6 loss at Seattle in Week 17. Dahl was held without an interception for the third game in a row and finished with a career high two picks this season.
Analysis: Dahl, who tallied three 10-tackles outings in his first games, finished the season with a whimper and totaled just eight stops in his last two games. He'll post good tackle numbers and is worth keeping an eye on for Fantasy IDP drafts in 2011.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl delivered another solid performance in Week 16 against the 49ers. Dahl finished with three tackles, two solo in the contest and was also credited with a pair of passes defended in the 25-17 win.
Analysis: Dahl has been playing very well down the home stretch of the season. He has an interception to go along with 24 tackles and six passes defended over his last three games and should remain active in all IDP leagues when the Rams face the Seahawks in Week 17.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl made eight tackles in Week 15 against the Chiefs. He now has made 24 tackles over his past three games, along with a sack and two interceptions.
Analysis: Dahl is on a nice run to wind up the season. Consider him as a sleeper DB option in deeper IDP leagues.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl recorded his second interception of the season in Week 14 against the Saints. Dahl also led the Rams in tackles with nine, all solo and was credited with a pass defended in the 31-13 loss.
Analysis: Dahl is having a career year and has played very well over the last two weeks. He is a great source for tackles and can be viewed as a low-end Fantasy DB heading into Week 15 against the Chiefs.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl played one of his better games of the season in Week 13 against the Cardinals. Dahl recorded his first sack of the season in the contest to go along with his first interception. He finished with seven tackles, three for a loss and was also credited with a pass defended in the contest.
Analysis: Dahl is having a career year and may have played his best game ever on Sunday. He is a great source for tackles and can be viewed as a low-end Fantasy DB heading into Week 14 against the Saints.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl had a very productive game against the 49ers in Week 10. He led St. Louis with 13 tackles and also had two passes defended in the 23-20 overtime loss.
Analysis: Dahl recorded his second straight double-digit tackle game on Sunday and also defended his first two passes. He is one pace for a career year but should only be considered a sleeper in deep IDP leagues heading into Week 11 against the Falcons.
News: Rams S Craig Dahl left the matchup against the Raiders in Week 1 with a concussion. He came up with a huge play, stopping Raiders FB Marcel Reece on a fourth-and-inches run at the Rams 6-yard line. He collected seven tackles in the game before leaving with the injury.
Analysis: Dahl has 11 tackles on the year and could be considered a sleeper in deep IDP leagues this season if he can come back from this injury. Fantasy owners in those formats should be the only ones monitoring his status heading into Week 3 against the Redskins.
News: Rams DB Oshiomogho Atogwe, now an unrestricted free agent after not signing a free-agent tender, visited with coach Steve Spagnuolo last week. Spagnuolo said it was a "good, long conversation." Spagnuolo also said he wants to see Atogwe back with the club. "I love O.J. The process took us to this point, but it's ongoing," Spagnuolo said. "We're still working at it and very hopeful." In Atogwe's absence, Craig Dahl has assumed the starting role at free safety. Dahl is entering his fourth year. "He's experienced in the system, knows it mentally and works his butt off," Spagnuolo said.
Analysis: Dahl could be considered a sleeper in deep IDP leagues this season if Atogwe doesn't return to St. Louis. Keep an eye on what happens with Atogwe, otherwise plan on taking Dahl with a late-round pick.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl (seven tackles, sack) and DB Oshiomogho Atogwe (six tackles, sack) had nice performances in a Week 5 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Otogwe is a solid starting LB in all IDP Fantasy formats, while Dahl isn't worth worrying about heading into Week 6 at Jacksonville.
News: St. Louis S Craig Dahl suffered a head injury in Week 4 against the 49ers, but it was yet to be determined whether he had a concussion. He had one tackle before leaving the game.
Analysis: Dahl was starting for injured S James Butler in Week 4, but now has joined Butler as part of the walking wounded. When healthy, Dahl is usually a backup safety that hardly factors in Fantasy. It's safe to ignore him.
News: The Rams were led in tackles by two players in Week 3's loss to the Packers. Rams DB Ronald Bartell finished with 6 tackles and DB Craig Dahl had 7.
Analysis: Bartell has 17 tackles and a forced fumble in three games and this was Dahl's first action. Both players are not really recommended Fantasy IDP options for Week 4 at San Francisco.
News: The following players are listed as inactive for the Rams for Week 2's game at Washington: DB Anthony Smith, DB Craig Dahl, WR Ruvell Martin, DL Victor Adeyanju and DL Darell Scott.
Analysis: Martin is a very low-end Fantasy option at WR and really shouldn't be on many rosters. The same goes for the rest of the players listed above.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 2 at Washington. He took limited practice reps Thursday but sat out the other two days. He will miss a second straight game.
Analysis: Dahl has not played a game in the NFL since his rookie season with the Giants in 2007. He has landed a backup role in St. Louis, but has little to no Fantasy value when healthy.
News: St. Louis DB Craig Dahl was listed as inactive Week 1 against the Seahawks. He was ruled out for the game earlier in the week.
Analysis: Dahl has not played a game in the NFL since his rookie season with the Giants in 2007. He has landed a backup role in St. Louis, but has little to no Fantasy value when healthy.
News:Anthony Smith, Craig Dahl, Eric Young, Roger Allen III, John Greco, Victor Adeyanju and LaJuan Ramsey were listed as the Rams inactives for Week 1 against the Seahawks.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy relevance and should be left out of lineups at all times.
News: Rams DB Craig Dahl (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 1 at Seattle. He did not practice all week.
Analysis: Dahl has not played a game in the NFL since his rookie season with the Giants in 2007. He has landed a backup role in St. Louis, but has little to no Fantasy value when healthy.
News: The Giants on Tuesday waived receiver Michael Jennings and waived safety Terrance Stringer from the injured list. Safety Craig Dahl was waived injured on Monday. Receiver D.J. Hall and safety Miguel Scott were also waived.
Analysis: None of these players were not expected to help Fantasy owners out much. Keep them off rosters until further notice.
News: Giants reserve DB Craig Dahl suffered a knee injury Week 17 against the Patriots and had to leave the game. He did not record a statistic.
Analysis: As a backup safety, Dahl rarely recorded statistics. He didn't deserve Fantasy consideration in 2007 and likely won't in 2008.
News: Giants DB James Butler (hamstring) is out for Week 15 vs. Washington. It will be the second straight game he missed. Expect Craig Dahl to start in his place. Dahl is listed as probable with an ankle injury, but went through a full practice Friday.
Analysis: Dahl has stepped up in Butler's absence, but still doesn't have the stats that warrant heavy use in Fantasy IDP leagues. Look to other Fantasy alternatives Week 15.
News: The Giants listed QB Jared Lorenzen (emergency QB), WR Steve Smith (shoulder), DB Craig Dahl (coach's decision), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (coach's decision), DL Dave Tollefson (coach's decision) and DL Manuel Wright (coach's decision) as inactive for Week 7 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: Smith is the only player on this list worth even thinking about in Fantasy play, but even he is only worth a look in deeper leagues and keeper formats. As for the rest of these players, leave them on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: The Giants' list of inactives for Week 6 at Atlanta includes WR Steve Smith, DB Craig Dahl, QB Jared Lorenzen, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, DL Dave Tollefson and DL Manuel Wright.
Analysis: These players are all either reserves on offense or minor statistical contributors on defense. Keep them on the waiver wire.
News: The Giants listed QB Jared Lorenzen (third QB), WR Steve Smith (shoulder), DB Craig Dahl (coach's decision), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (coach's decision), DL Dave Tollefson (coach's decision) and DL Manuel Wright (coach's decision) as inactive for Week 5 vs. the Jets.
Analysis: Steve Smith is the only player on this list worth owning in Fantasy leagues, but even he is only worth a flier in deeper formats and keeper leagues at this time. The rest of these players should be left on the waiver wire until futher notice.
News: DB Craig Dahl and DL Manuel Wright are each inactive for Week 4 against the Eagles.
Analysis: Neither of the two players are worth using in IDP Fantasy leagues for Week 5 at N.Y. Jets.
News: Giants TE Kevin Boss, DB Craig Dahl, RB Robert Douglas, QB Jared Lorenzen (3rd QB), WR Steve Smith and LB Gerris Wilkinson are all inactive Week 3 at Washington.
Analysis: None of these players are solid Fantasy contributors when active. Keep them reserved in all Fantasy formats for Week 3.
News: S Craig Dahl, DL William Joseph and LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee) are each inactive for Week 1 at Dallas.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worthy of Fantasy consideration even in the deepest of IDP leagues heading into Week 2 against the Packers.
News: Giants coach Tom Coughlin said rookie Michael Johnson and free agent Craig Dahl earned spots on the roster with impressive play at safety. "We think both guys will be good on special teams," Coughlin said. The Giants kept all eight draft picks on their roster. The biggest free agent surprises who made the team were receiver Anthony Mix and defensive tackle Manny Wright, who didn't play football last season because of emotional issues.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to make great statistical contributions in 2007 and can be left on waiver wires in Fantasy leagues at this time.
