La Canfora: Dolphins could make a quarterback change eventually

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/7/2014) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to get more pressure from coach Joe Philbin this summer to improve his game -- or else. CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora writes that Miami head coach Joe Philbin professed his belief in backup Matt Moore to several general manager candidates, suggesting that he could put Moore in the lineup if Tannehill doesn't improve.

"He definitely wants to push Tannehill more," a source who spoke with Philbin said, "and if he doesn't see improvement he said he might go to Moore at some point. He definitely has a lot of faith in Moore, and they're paying him a lot of money."

Indeed, Moore is due $4 million in 2014 and counts for $5.5 million against the cap. Tannehill is not due for a new contract until 2016.

Matt Moore tosses two picks in relief

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/22/2013) Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore was pressed into duty in Week 16 against the Bills Sunday, thanks to ineffectiveness and injury to starter Ryan Tannehill in a 19-0 loss.

Moore entered the game in the fourth quarter for one drive in place of Tannehill, who went down with a knee injury. He completed one 50-yard pass, and was also intercepted to end that drive.

Tannehill returned to the game briefly, but was ultimately taken out for the final drive. Moore ended up finishing the game with 53 yards on 2 of 6 passing, with a pair of interceptions.

Tannehill's late exit was likely a result of his poor play, rather than the knee injury. Moore will likely be back on the bench in Week 17, when the Dolphins face the Jets to finish the season.

Report: Fins keep Moore

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/8/2013) NFL.com reports the Dolphins have re-signed quarterback Matt Moore to a two-year deal worth $8 million. Moore threw for 131 yards over two stints with a touchdown in 2012. "This team is definitely going places," he said. "There are big things to come, and I didn't want to miss out."
