Matt Moore gets some garbage time action

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore got some action in Week 4 against the Raiders in London, but not in the circumstances he imagined to be in. With the game well in hand, Moore came in for Ryan Tannehill for the final three drives of the night. He did not attempt a pass and had two carries for minus-2 yards in a 38-14 victory.

It appears Dolphins are not ready to make change at QB

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/25/2014) While Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin still has yet to announce a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Ryan Tannehill continues to insist he will start Sunday and backup quarterback Matt Moore appears to be backing up that claim.

"I've taken zero reps. Ryan's prepared the same way he always does and I've prepared the same way I always do," Moore said, per CSNBayArea.com. "We showed up on Tuesday and everything was the same. Obviously, I did get a couple of text messages from friends who read things and it caught me off guard but nothing was said in here."

Dolphins considering making change at QB?

(9/22/2014) The Dolphins might have a new starting quarterback for their Week 4 showdown with the Raiders in London.

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin was asked Monday following Miami's 34-15 loss Sunday against the Chiefs if Ryan Tannehill will start next week against Oakland, and Philbin didn't exactly respond with a vote of confidence for Tannehill.

"We’ll decide our game plan before we leave to play Oakland," Philbin said, per The Palm Beach Post.

Matt Moore is the Dolphins' backup quarterback.

Ryan Tannehill out, Matt Moore in Thursday for Dolphins

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2014) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will catch a breather for the Thursday night preseason finale against St. Louis. Matt Moore is set to start instead.

Tannehill has completed 28 of 41 passes for 291 yards with one touchdown and one interception in exhibition play. Moore has performed well at 25 of 38 for 330 yards and two scores.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/16/2014) Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore made his preseason debut Saturday night in Tampa Bay. He entered the game with the second-team offense in the second quarter and compiled 158 yards and a touchdown through the air while completing 13 of 19 passes.

(8/14/2014) Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore will play for the first time this preseason Saturday in Tampa against the Buccaneers, according to the Miami Herald. Moore missed the first game due to a shoulder injury. He is expected to be the team's No. 2 quarterback at the start of the regular season.

Matt Moore to miss first preseason game

(8/8/2014) Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore will sit out Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons due to an injured shoulder, according to the Miami Herald. Ryan Tannehill, Brock Jensen and Seth Lobato were the only quarterbacks in uniform for Miami.

Matt Moore nursing injury to throwing shoulder

(8/1/2014) Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore will sit out Friday's practice and likely Saturday's scrimmage to rest his throwing shoulder, reports the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The goal is to have Moore ready for the Aug. 8 preseason opener against Atlanta.

Pat Devlin will get additional reps behind starter Ryan Tannehill, the report said.

La Canfora: Dolphins could make a quarterback change eventually

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/7/2014) Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to get more pressure from coach Joe Philbin this summer to improve his game -- or else. CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora writes that Miami head coach Joe Philbin professed his belief in backup Matt Moore to several general manager candidates, suggesting that he could put Moore in the lineup if Tannehill doesn't improve.

"He definitely wants to push Tannehill more," a source who spoke with Philbin said, "and if he doesn't see improvement he said he might go to Moore at some point. He definitely has a lot of faith in Moore, and they're paying him a lot of money."

Indeed, Moore is due $4 million in 2014 and counts for $5.5 million against the cap. Tannehill is not due for a new contract until 2016.

Matt Moore tosses two picks in relief

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/22/2013) Dolphins backup quarterback Matt Moore was pressed into duty in Week 16 against the Bills Sunday, thanks to ineffectiveness and injury to starter Ryan Tannehill in a 19-0 loss.

Moore entered the game in the fourth quarter for one drive in place of Tannehill, who went down with a knee injury. He completed one 50-yard pass, and was also intercepted to end that drive.

Tannehill returned to the game briefly, but was ultimately taken out for the final drive. Moore ended up finishing the game with 53 yards on 2 of 6 passing, with a pair of interceptions.

Tannehill's late exit was likely a result of his poor play, rather than the knee injury. Moore will likely be back on the bench in Week 17, when the Dolphins face the Jets to finish the season.

Report: Fins keep Moore

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/8/2013) NFL.com reports the Dolphins have re-signed quarterback Matt Moore to a two-year deal worth $8 million. Moore threw for 131 yards over two stints with a touchdown in 2012. "This team is definitely going places," he said. "There are big things to come, and I didn't want to miss out."
