News: Linebacker Nick Roach has signed with the Raiders. He's expected to land the starting inside linebacker job.
Analysis: Roach has never posted awesome statistics but might have the chance to with the Raiders. Last year in Chicago he finagles 66 total tackles with 1.5 sacks and four passes defensed. Roach is a sleeper linebacker assuming he can land that starting job.
News: Bears linebacker Nick Roach had a season-high nine tackles (five solo) Week 14 at Minnesota. He has 44 tackles in 13 games this season.
Analysis: Roach moved into the middle linebacker position Sunday vacated by Brian Urlacher, who could be sidelined a few more weeks with a hamstring injury. Roach proved Sunday he could make plays in Urlacher's absence and could be a nice stopgap Fantasy option in IDP formats the next few weeks.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach injured his shoulder early on in Week 17 against the Packers and did not return to the game. He did not stat before being forced from the game.
Analysis: Roach had been seeing some decent playing time while Pisa Tinoisamoa was out but he serves mainly as a backup for Chicago. He finished the year with 15 tackles and a forced fumble. Roach is not productive enough to matter in Fantasy so continue to ignore him in all IDP formats.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach was active for Week 14 against the Patriots despite suffering a hip pointer to the back of his hip in his last game. LB Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) was inactive for Sunday's matchup.
Analysis: Roach has just seven tackles on the year and although he got the start in Week 14, he is not a recommended play in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots.
News: Bears LB Pisa Tinoisamoa had what coach Lovie Smith called a "minor scope" on his right knee. "He had been having pain and had been trying to play through it," Smith said. Tinoisamoa's backup at the strong side, Nick Roach, suffered a hip pointer to the back of his hip and his status is day to day.
Analysis: Neither linebacker is expected to help owners in Fantasy play. Keep them off rosters. The Bears host the Patriots in Week 14.
News: Chicago LB Nick Roach left the Week 13 game in Detroit with a hip injury. He went to the locker room at halftime and could not return to the game after the half. Roach finished with one tackle in the game.
Analysis: Roach is not a big tackle guy for the Bears and doesn't do much for Fantasy owners in IDP leagues. He can be left on waivers in all formats.
News: The knee injury to LB Pisa Tinoisamoa means Nick Roach will get the start at strong side linebacker. Roach started 14 games last year when Tinoisamoa suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Analysis: Roach has just five total tackles through eight games this season, but he has not started a game yet. He will start next to Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs on Thursday night, so expect his numbers to increase because of the opportunity. Still, this is a temporary fill-in for Tinoisamoa, so don't bother adding Roach in Fantasy play.
News: Bears LBs Nick Roach (hamstring) and Hunter Hillenmeyer (illness) left the game Sunday against Detroit. They will be listed as questionable for Week 2 at Dallas. Neither recorded any stats before leaving the game.
Analysis: Roach and Hillenmeyer have minimal Fantasy value in all IDP leagues. Ignore each in Week 2 at Dallas even if they are able to return for the game against the Cowboys.
News: The Chicago Tribune reports that Bears LB Nick Roach had minor knee surgery Tuesday. He will miss the rest of the preseason.
Analysis: Roach's knee has been an issue all camp, and the starting outside linebacker will now lose his job to Pisa Tinoisamoa for the rest of the preseason. Roach had 75 tackles last season in his first campaign as a starter, but isn't much of a Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach has a knee injury. That is the reason he was held out of practice on Monday. Roach is questionable to play in the team's third preseason game on Saturday against Arizona.
Analysis: Roach displays plenty of potential to become a solid NFL linebacker. Still, the Bears are loaded at that position and we don't believe he's going to post enough stats to matter in IDP leagues in Fantasy. This injury is not serious but owners should still keep him off rosters.
News: Restricted free agent linebacker Nick Roach has signed a one-year tender offer with the Chicago Bears. Roach started 15 of 16 games last season for Chicago with 12 starts at strong side and three in the middle. He had career highs in tackles (82), tackles for losses (10), forced fumbles (three) and sacks (two). He also recoverd a fumble.
Analysis: Roach has potential to be a decent NFL linebacker, but with the Bears loaded at the position chances are he won't post many stats on a weekly basis. Keep him off rosters.
News: The Bears had several defenders chip in Sunday at Baltimore in a 31-7 loss against the Ravens. LB Lance Briggs had 13 tackles. DB Charles Tillman had eight tackles. DB Zack Bowman had three tackles and an interception. LB Hunter Hillenmeyer had seven tackles and a sack. LB Nick Roach had two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. DL Alex Brown had three tackles. DL Gaines Adams had one tackle. DL Adewale Ogunleye had one tackle. And DB Danieal Manning had three tackles.
Analysis: The Bears have several quality Fantasy options in IDP leagues. Plan on using your regular starters in Week 16 against Minnesota.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach had a productive game on Sunday in a Week 8 win over the Browns. He forced two fumbles in the game and made six tackles.
Analysis: Roach does not put up enough relevant stats to be worth owning in anything other than the deepest of IDP formats. The Bears take on the Cardinals Week 9.
News: Notable Bears defenders from Week 6 at Atlanta include: LB Lance Briggs (six solo tackles), LB Nick Roach (seven total tackles), CB Zack Bowman (three solo tackles, interception) and CB Nathan Vasher (an interception, no tackles).
Analysis: Of these defenders, Briggs is a must-start in Fantasy play and Roach is working his way up the ladder and could be worth a flier in deeper IDP leagues. Bowman and Vasher don't produce enough stats for Fantasy use. The Bears play at the Bengals in Week 7.
News: The Chicago Bears hope middle linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer will be able to play this week after suffering a rib injury in Sunday's win at Seattle. If he can't, Nick Roach figures to fill in. Coach Lovie Smith says Hillenmeyer's injury is not as serious as the cracked rib that has sidelined tight end Desmond Clark the past two weeks. Hillenmeyer, who became the starting middle linebacker after Brian Urlacher suffered a season-ending wrist injury in the opener, was injured in the second quarter. He played into the third before calling it a day.
Analysis: Neither Hillenmeyer nor Roach are expected to produce enough stats to warrant use in IDP leagues. Keep both off of rosters for now.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach was hurt in the second half of Saturday's preseason game against Buffalo and did not return. Coach Lovie Smith said the injury was not serious.
Analysis: Roach does not put up enough relevant stats to be worth owning in Fantasy, so ignore him on Draft Day.
News: The Chicago Bears re-signed linebacker Nick Roach, an exclusive rights free agent, on Monday. Roach, who started nine games and appeared in 14 overall, was credited with 25 solo tackles and 15 assists last season. He went undrafted out of Northwestern in 2006 and spent the first 11 weeks on the San Diego Chargers' practice squad as a rookie in 2007 before joining the Bears in late November. He appeared in the final three games that year and recorded five special teams tackles.
Analysis: Roach doesn't post enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The Bears host the Vikings in Week 7 and have listed the following players as being inactive and out for that game: QB Caleb Hanie, DB Nathan Vasher, DL Matt Toeaina, DB Charles Tillman, DB Danieal Manning and LB Nick Roach.
Analysis: Tillman is a must-start when healthy. None of the other aforementioned players have any Fantasy relevance at this time. Leave them reserved for Week 7.
News: Bears WR Brandon Lloyd is inactive for Week 6 at Atlanta. He is dealing with a knee injury. Also inactive for the Bears are QB Caleb Hanie, CB Nathan Vasher, LB Nick Roach, DT Matt Toeaina and NT Anthony Adams.
Analysis: This is the second game Lloyd will miss for the Bears. Keep him reserved and hope he can return soon. All the other players have minimal Fantasy value and should be kept on the bench against the Falcons.
News: Bears reserve LB Nick Roach left the team's Week 5 game at Detroit with a left shoulder injury.
Analysis: Roach doesn't post enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. This news shouldn't hurt many Fantasy owners.
News: Bears LB Nick Roach recorded three total tackles in Thursday's preseason game against the Browns.
Analysis: Roach is not expected to start and for that reason will not play enough to produce much from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave him on the waiver wire in Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: Chicago LB Nick Roach remained out with a concussion in Thursday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Analysis: Roach is not expected to start and for that reason will not play enough to produce much from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave him on the waiver wire in Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News:Bears coach Lovie Smith said after Saturday's preseason game at Seattle that LB Nick Roach "should be OK" after he suffered a concussion.
Analysis: Roach is not expected to start and for that reason will not play enough to produce much from a Fantasy standpoint. Leave him on the waiver wire in Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: Bears DL Anthony Adams, QB Kyle Orton (3rd QB), WR Mike Hass, DB Nathan Vasher, LB Nick Roach and LB Darrell McClover have all been ruled inactive for Week 14 at Washington.
Analysis: Vasher has not played since Week 3 and can't seem to shake a nagging groin injury. When healthy, he is merely a low-end Fantasy DB. The remaining inactive players have little to no Fantasy value when in the lineup. Keep them all reserved Week 14.
News: Notable Bearss inactives from Week 13 vs. the N.Y. Giants include QB Kyle Orton (No. 3/emergency QB), CB Nathan Vasher, LB Nick Roach, LB Darrell McClover, WR Mike Hass and DE Antonio Garay.
Analysis: Aside from Vasher, none of these Bears should be owned in standard Fantasy play at this time.
News: The Chargers practice squard includes DB Tra Battle, RB Eldra Buckley, DEs Andre Coleman and Keith Grennan, DT Louis Leonard and LBs Nick Roach and Jyles Tucker.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy leagues in 2007. They will not get enough playing time to help your roster this season.
News: Safety Bhawoh Jue was one of 15 players released by the Chargers on Saturday to get down to the 53-man limit. The Chargers also placed rookie running back Germaine Race (toe) on injured reserve. Other players released were linebackers Antwan Applewhite, Nick Roach and Jyles Tucker; safety Tra Battle; center Mark Bihl; running back Eldra Buckley; wide receivers Greg Camarillo and Mark Simmons; defensive ends Andre Coleman; Keith Grennan and Derreck Robinson; tackles Cory Lekkerkerker and Tony Pape; and defensive tackle Louis Leonard.
Analysis: All of the above players should be considered unusable for Fantasy purposes until they find regular playing time with an NFL team.
