News: Redskins CB Byron Westbrook was arrested early Friday and charged with driving under the influence.
Analysis: Westbrook made 12 tackles in 15 games last season as he saw NFL action for the first time in his career. He has no Fantasy value.
News: Washington has listed the following players as inactive at Atlanta in Week 9: DB Kevin Barnes, DB Byron Westbrook, RB Eddie Williams, TE Chris Cooley, DL Anthony Montgomery and DL Renaldo Wynn.
Analysis: Only Cooley among the players above has any Fantasy value, when healthy. Cooley could be down for the year so keep him inactive from now until reports say something else. None of these players should be active in Week 9.
News: Washington Redskins left tackle Chris Samuels is out for the season, and linebacker H.B. Blades and cornerback Byron Westbrook are recovering from knee surgery. Spokesman Zack Bolno also confirmed that Blades and Westbrook had knee operations this week. Both were injured in the Monday night loss to Philadelphia and will miss next week's game at Atlanta at least. Coach Jim Zorn is expected to update the status of both players Monday. The Redskins have a bye this weekend.
Analysis: Westbrook shouldn't be considered for Fantasy use because his production has never been consistently big. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters, especially seeing as he's injured now.
News: The Redskins on Wednesday re-signed cornerback Byron Westbrook. Westbrook, the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, spent the last two seasons on the Redskins practice squad. He originally signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent from Salisbury State in May 2007.
Analysis: Westbrook shouldn't be considered for Fantasy use because his production has never been consistently big. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: The Washington Redskins announced Sunday that they have signed the following players to their practice squad: FB Nehemiah Broughton, OL Devin Clark, OL Andrew Crummey, WR Horace Gant, LB Curtis Gatewood, DB Matterral Richardson, DB Byron Westbrook. All seven players were with the team during the 2008 training camp and were waived on Saturday.
Analysis: The practice squad is just an extension of the 53-man roster. These players could make it onto the active roster on some point due to injuries, but likely won't be in line for significant playing time. They can be ignored in Fantasy leagues right now.
News: On Sunday, the Redskins signed FB Brian Bell, DE Alex Buzbee, DB John Eubanks, OL Kili Lefotu, LB Matt Sinclair, WR Burt Toler, LB Anthony Trucks and DB Byron Westbrook to their practice squad.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy leagues in 2007. They will not get enough playing time to help your roster this season.
News: The Washington Redskins signed eight players to the practice squad Sunday, including DE Alex Buzbee, DB Byron Westbrook, FB Brian Bell, DB John Eubanks and LBs Matt Sinclair and Anthony Trucks.
Analysis: None of these players should be drafted in any Fantasy leagues in 2007. They will not get enough playing time to help your roster this season.
News: On Saturday, the Redskins let go of the following players: rookie QB Jordan Palmer (brother of Carson), FB Fred Beasley, veteran WR Corey Bradford, RB Dee Brown, WR Ryan Hoag, CB Ade Jimoh, SS Omar Stoutmire, veteran DE Renaldo Wynn, rookie LB Dallas Sartz, DL Matthias Askew, TE Brian Bell, WR Carl Berman, DL Alex Buzbee, DB John Eubanks, DL Justin Hickman, LB Matt Sinclair, WR Burt Toler, LB Anthony Trucks, DB Byron Westbrook and OLs Calvin Armstrong, Kili Lefotu, Jake Nordin and Taylor Whitley.
Analysis: Veterans Bradford and Wynn could get a look from other teams, as might Jordan Palmer. However, all of the above players should be considered unusable for Fantasy purposes until they find regular playing time with an NFL team.
