Da'Rel Scott to miss a few weeks

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/12/2013) Giants running back Da'Rel Scott is expected to sit out a few weeks due to his strained hamstring, NFL.com reports.

Scott hurt his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Thursday's loss to the Bears. He finished the contest with four carries for 17 yards.

Scott actually made a start Week 4 before getting released. He was then added back to the roster after David Wilson suffered an injury.

Scott could miss three or more weeks and the Giants only healthy RBs right now are Brandon Jacobs and rookie Michael Cox.

Da'Rel Scott goes down with late hamstring injury

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/10/2013) Giants running back Da'Rel Scott played a limited role in Thursday's game against the Bears in Week 6, and ended up going down with an apparent right leg injury late.

Scott rushed for 17 yards on four carries, and he suffered the injury on his longest, a 13-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. After the game, head coach Tom Coughlin told reporters Scott was diagnosed with a hamstring injury

If David Wilson remains sidelined by a neck injury, Scott is likely to remain the team's primary backup in Week 7 against the Vikings, assuming this injury does not linger.

Da'Rel Scott looking for first success

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/9/2013) Giants running back Da'Rel Scott has a very limited track record of success over parts of three NFL seasons, but he has been thrust into Fantasy relevance for at least Week 6 against the Bears. Starter David Wilson has already been ruled out for Thursday's game with a neck injury, likely leaving Scott likely to see a larger role behind Brandon Jacobs.

Scott enters the game with just 81 yards on 27 carries in his career, and will likely be the team's backup for the game. In a likely shared role, Scott is likely to have just limited success against the Bears, likely as a pass-catcher on third downs.

Scott has 98 yards on 10 catches on the season, and has scored his lone touchdown on a reception. The Bears allow 6.8 receptions for 53.4 yards per game against opposing backs, and allowed two touchdowns out of the backfield over the last two games.

As a bye week or injury replacement, Scott might be worth using as a low-end flex Fantasy option for Thursday.

Trattou made three tackles in five games.

The Giants also added cornerback Junior Mertile and linebacker Darin Drakeford to their practice squad.

Giants backup RBs once again make little impact

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/29/2013) Giants backup running backs Da'Rel Scott and Brandon Jacobs once again had minor contributions during a 31-7 loss Week 4 at Kansas City. Scott rushed for 26 yards on five carries and had one catch for no gain, while Jacobs had just one carry for 5 yards and one catch for 5 yards in the loss.

Giants' backup RBs don't contribute much Week 3

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/22/2013) Giants backup running backs Da'Rel Scott and Brandon Jacobs didn't contribute much during a 38-0 loss Week 3 at Carolina. Scott had one rush for 5 yards and two catches for 17 yards, while Jacobs had just 2 yards on three carries.

The Giants' next opponent will be Kansas City in Week 4.

Da'Rel Scott making impact in passing game

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/17/2013) Giants running back Da'Rel Scott has figured prominently into the team's game plan through the first two weeks due to David Wilson's struggles. Scott has especially played a significant role in the passing game, totaling seven catches for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Heading into Week 3 at Carolina, Scott will still be part of a crowded backfield with Wilson and Brandon Jacobs. The good news for the Giants' backfield, which ranks dead last in the NFL in rushing offense (36.5 ypg), is Carolina is allowing 109.5 rushing yards per game (22nd) and running backs average 19 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for the seventh-highest average. Running backs also average 96.5 rushing yards and 75.5 receiving yards against Carolina.

Scott should still see a fair amount of playing time on passing downs in Week 3, but since he's likely to get less than 10 touches, he's not a recommended Fantasy option in most formats. Scott remains more of a desperation start in deeper formats.

Scott carried five times for 2  yards as New York couldn't get anything going on the ground. Scott visits the Panthers in Week 3.

Da'Rel Scott takes over for David Wilson

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/8/2013) Giants running back Da'Rel Scott took over for David Wilson, who had some issues hanging onto the ball during Sunday’s contest against the Cowboys in Week 1.

Scott took over for Wilson in the third quarter and stayed in for the remainder of the game. He finished the game with 70 yards of total offense, logging a team-high 23 yards on five carries (4.6 yards per carry) and 51 yards on five receptions (eight targets) in a 36-31 defeat.

The Giants host the Broncos in Week 2. It remains uncertain if Wilson will lose his starting job to Scott in Week 2.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Giants align RB depth chart behind David Wilson

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

For now, David Wilson looks like a great Fantasy RB

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/29/2013) Giants running back David Wilson is in line to take on a lot of work in the Giants offense following the injury suffered by teammate Andre Brown. Brown was expected to work third downs and goal-line reps while Wilson did everything else.

While Brown's timetable to return might be best ballparked at 8 weeks (maybe he plays later this year), there is no immediate backup/handcuff for Wilson, a positive for his Fantasy status. Rookie Michael Cox and veteran Da'Rel Scott are physical backs on the roster but neither have experience nor great ability to fully take Brown's role. Cox averaged less than 4.0 yards per carry last year at UMass. It is believed the Giants will consider other options including but not limited to current veteran free agents.

As for Wilson, the prospect of a 275-touch season is very strong. He's shown off his wheels this preseason and didn't fumble on any of his 24 carries. The door is now open for him to work as a three-down back and conceivably cash in at the goal line a couple of times. You're looking at a back worth a late second-round pick in all formats. I like him better than Maurice Jones-Drew.

Scott placed on IR after surgery

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/20/2012) Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty (knee) has been added to the active roster Saturday after being removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list. The Giants placed running back Da'Rel Scott on injured reserve to make room on the roster. Scott underwent knee surgery Tuesday.
