Giovani Bernard headlines Bengals inactives in Week 10

(11/6/2014) The Bengals have ruled the following players as inactive for Thursday's Week 10 matchup against the Browns: running back Giovani Bernard (hip, clavicle), cornerback Leon Hall (concussion), linebackers Vontaze Burfict (knee) and Rey Maualuga (hamstring), offensive tackle Andre Smith (ankle), wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher and defensive end Will Clarke.

Hall and Burfict were ruled out on the team's final injury report, which also listed Bernard, Maualuga and Smith as doubtful to play. Jeremy Hill is expected to carry the load at running back with Bernard sidelined.


Gio Bernard heads Bengals' Week 9 inactives

(11/2/2014) The Bengals declared running back Giovani Bernard (hip), linebacker Vontaze Burfict (knee), guard Kevin Zeitler (calf), linebacker Rey Maualuga (hamstring), cornerback Darqueze Dennard (hamstring), wideout Dane Sanzenbacher and defensive end Will Clarke inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

With Bernard sidelined, rookie Jeremy Hill will start at tailback.


Dane Sanzenbacher plays bigger role

(9/14/2014) When star wide receiver A.J. Green went down in the first series with a foot injury, Dane Sanzenbacher was one of the Bengals who helped fill the void Week 2 against Atlanta. After going without a target in Week 1, he was targeted four times in this one, catching two passes for 42 yards.

His biggest play was a 26-yard catch-and-run late in the second quarter. The Bengals would go up by two touchdowns shortly after that and rely more on their running game the rest of the way.

Sanzenbacher will look to remain involved Week 3 against the Titans.


Bengals list inactives for third preseason game

Schaffer, offensive lineman Andre Smith, tight end Tyler Eifert, wide receiver Marvin Jones and cornerback Lavelle Westbrooks.

In the meantime, Mohamed Sanu is expected to move outside with Dane Sanzenbacher handling the slot.

(1/5/2014) The Bengals have made RB Rex Burkhead, CB Terence Newman, OT Tanner Hawkinson, WR Ryan Whalen, WR Dane Sanzenbacher, DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo and TE Kevin Brock inactive against the Chargers.

Newman is the only player on the list who was on the injury report. He was doubtful due to a knee injury. The other six players are healthy scratches.

(10/27/2013) A blowout of the Jets on Sunday allowed two little-used skill position players to dent the scoresheet for the Bengals. Quarterback Josh Johnson did not throw a pass, but he did rush for 17 yards on three carries. Running back Cedric Peerman added 11 yards on six attempts.

Wideouts Marvin Jones and A.J. Green didn't leave many catches or yards for others, but tight end Tyler Eifert did contribute two receptions for 23 yards and wideout Dane Sanzenbacher added two more for 18 yards. Fellow wide receiver Mohamed Sanu caught one pass for 24 yards before leaving with a right shoulder injury.


Two Bengals receivers contribute one catch each Week 7

(10/20/2013) Bengals wide receiver Mohamed Sanu and wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher each contributed one catch during a 27-24 win Week 7 at Detroit. Sanu had a 12-yard catch, while Sanzenbacher had a 7-yard catch.

Sanu was targeted on a 12-yard touchdown pass in the first half, but he was well covered and the pass fell incomplete. The Bengals are back in action Week 8 vs. N.Y. Jets.


Three Bengals' receivers total seven catches Week 6

(10/13/2013) Bengals receivers Mohamed Sanu, Dane Sanzenbacher and Ben Tate all had minor contributions during a 27-24 overtime win Week 6 at Buffalo.

Sanu had five catches (six targets) for 44 yards, Sanzenbacher had one catch for 23 yards and Tate had one catch for 6 yards. None of these players recorded a touchdown.

The Bengals are back in action Week 7 at Detroit.

Whitworth had been doubtful most of the week and wasn't expected to play. He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by OT Anthony Collins.

(12/25/2012) The Bengals acquired wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher on waivers from the Bears on Tuesday and placed first-round draft pick Dre Kirkpatrick on injured reserve. Sanzenbacher, who was released earlier in the week, caught just one pass for 7 yards in four games for Chicago.
