Eagles sign John Moffitt, release Cole Manhart

(6/29/2015) As expected, the Eagles signed center John Moffitt to a one-year contract on Monday, per Philly.com.

Moffitt was a third-round draft pick in 2011 and played two years for Seattle. He was traded to Denver and retired early in the 2013 season. 

He was arrested in 2014 on assault and drug charges, which were later dropped. 

To make room, the Eagles released undrafted rookie free agent Cole Manhart


Report: Eagles to sign OG John Moffitt

(6/25/2015) The Eagles will sign offensive guard John Moffitt , according to a report from FOX Sports. 

Moffitt previously retired from the game in 2013. He was taken in the third round of the 2011 draft by Seattle and spent two seasons there. He was traded to Denver in 2013 before announcing his retirement.

(11/5/2013) For Seahawks guard John Moffitt has retired from the NFL Tuesday, the Seattle Times reports.

A 2011 third-round draft pick of the Seahawks, Moffitt started nine games in 2011 and six in 2012 before losing his starting spot and getting traded to Denver.

Ayers and Woodyard were listed as doubtful entering the week. Ayers has a shoulder injury. Woodyard is dealing with a neck issue.

(8/21/2013) Rob Chudzinski stressed that the Browns are "burning the midnight oil" searching for a right guard with Shawn Lauvao and Jason Pinkston both down. Rookie seventh-rounder Garrett Gilkey has played well, but is raw.

The Browns thought they had the answer when they traded with the Seahawks for experienced guard John Moffitt, but he never played a minute of practice before he was sent back to Seattle after failing a physical.

(8/19/2013) The Browns traded defensive end Brian Sanford to the Seahawks for guard John Moffitt, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Cleveland needed help at guard after Jason Pinkston's injury, and Seattle needed depth at defensive end with Bruce Irvin facing a suspension and Chris Clemons coming back from a torn ACL, according to La Canfora.
