Kyle Rudolph among probables for Vikings in Week 14

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12/5/2014) Along with tight end Kyle Rudolph (groin), the Vikings listed tight ends Rhett Ellison (ankle), Chase Ford (hamstring/foot) and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (knee) as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

Cordarrelle Patterson does little for the Vikings Week 12

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/23/2014) Vikings wideout Cordarrelle Patterson did little Week 12 against the Packers.

Patterson finished with two catches for 18 yards during the contest. He dealt with ankle and knee issues throughout the game. Patterson left twice due to injury, but was able to return both times.

The rest of the team's backup pass catchers failed to do much as well. Rhett Ellison caught two passes for 11 yards. Chase Ford had just one catch, but gained 13 yards.

They'll look for more Week 13 against the Panthers.

Vikings backup pass catchers don't do much Week 11

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/16/2014) The Vikings backup pass catchers didn't do much Week 11 against the Bears.

Rhett Ellison caught just one ball, though he did make it count. In the first quarter, Ellison hauled in a 7 yard touchdown pass from Teddy Bridgewater. He did not factor into the game after that play. Greg Jennings also had one catch, gaining 4 yards. He left the game early due to an injury. Chase Ford also gained 4 yards on his only catch.

The three will look for more Week 12 against the Packers.

Vikings pass catchers fail to do much Week 6

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/12/2014) The Vikings pass catchers failed to produce much Week 6.

Tight end Chase Ford finished second in receiving after catching four passes for 37 yards. Greg Jennings managed to come up with three catches for 33 yards. Charles Johnson also got into the act, catching two passes for 22 yards. Jarius Wright, who has been strong lately, caught four balls, but gained just 17 yards. He did have a rushing attempt, and gained 21 yards. Rhett Ellison caught one pass for 4 yards.

The group will take on the Bills Week 7.

Vikings backups manage little Week 6

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/3/2014) The Vikings backup pass-catchers didn't contribute much Week 6 against the Packers.

Tight end MarQueis Gray led the bunch with 16 yards on one reception. Position mate Rhett Ellison finished behind Gray with one catch for 12 yards. Joe Banyard managed to come away with two receptions during the game, but only gained 11 yards. Receiver Charles Johnson had one catch, picking up 7 yards.

The four will take on the Lions Week 6.

Vikings backup pass catchers do little Week 4

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) The Vikings backup pass catchers did little Week 4 against the Falcons.

Tight end Rhett Ellison managed one catch for 19 yards. Chase Ford contributed one reception for 17 yards. Both players will look for more Week 5 against the Packers.

Who was Teddy Bridgewater throwing to?

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/22/2014) Teddy Bridgewater did not elicit as much excitement coming out of college as his fellow draft peers, and his NFL debut Sunday against the Saints reflected that. While Blake Bortles was tossing two touchdowns -- and two interceptions -- and Johnny Manziel was being used as a wide receiver on trick plays, Bridgewater came in did a solid, unspectacular job for the Vikings after Matt Cassel's injury Sunday.

Bridgewater put together a professional performance, though he didn't give the team enough to mount a comeback in the 20-9 loss. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 150 yards and added 27 on six carries, without recording a touchdown or turnover.

Bridgewater was not asked to do much, but he has plenty of weapons in this Minnesota offense, so that should change moving forward as he gets more comfortable. He targeted six players Sunday, and a breakdown of that could give Fantasy owners an idea of how he might spread the ball around moving forward:

Greg Jennings: six targets, four receptions; Cordarrelle Patterson: three targets, three receptions; Jerick McKinnon: five targets, two receptions; Matt Asiata: four targets, two receptions; Kyle Rudolph: one target, one reception; Rhett Ellison: one target, no receptions

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/29/2013) Vikings TE Chase Ford, WR Jarius Wright, WR Jerome Simpson and TE Rhett Ellison were limited Week 17.

Ford led the group, with five receptions for 43 yards. Wright had 31 yards on two catches. Simpson gained 29 yards on three receptions. Ellison had one catch for 13 yards.

Rhett Ellison, Joe Banyard contribute

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/22/2013) Vikings fullback Rhett Ellison and running Joe Banyard both made small contributions on offense Week 16 at Cincinnati. Ellison had two catches for 22 yards, and Banyard had one for 11.

Ellison's only other two catches this year came Week 12 against the Packers. Banyard hadn't recorded a catch all season.

Rhett Ellison did his best to cost Vikings win

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2013) Vikings tight end Rhett Ellison had a game to forget Week 13 vs. Chicago. Although the Vikings won 23-20 in overtime, Ellison did his best to hurt his team's chances of winning.

Ellison's first blunder came late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Matt Cassel hit Ellison on a slant near the goal line, but Ellison bobbled what would have been a go-ahead, 6-yard touchdown and it was intercepted by Chicago.

Then in overtime, Blair Walsh had a game-winning, 39-yard field goal nullified because of a 15-yard facemask penalty by Ellison. Two plays later, Walsh missed a 57-yard field goal.

Walsh eventually made a game-winning, 34-yard field goal, but Ellison came close to costing his team a win.

"I really screwed over the team," Ellison said, per the Pioneer Press. "You just try to erase it and move on. These guys wouldn’t give up so I couldn’t give up."
