News: Playing in only his fifth game after beginning the season on injured reserve, Bills rookie defensive back Ron Brooks recorded a team-high nine tackles, including eight solo, Week 13 against the Jaguars. He entered the game with only four tackles on the season.
Analysis: Brooks got his first chance to start for the Bills and made quite an impression with the heavy hits. Though the rookie isn't worth adding in Fantasy IDP leagues after just one big game, he's certainly worth watching, particularly if you need tackles.
News: Bills defensive back Ron Brooks (foot) was reinstated from injured reserve Friday after missing the first seven games of the season. He took the place of offensive lineman Chad Rinehart, who was placed on injured reserve. "Luckily this organization had faith in me and designated me the one return guy," Brooks said. Ive been out for nine weeks so Im really hungry, really ready to get back out there with the team."
Analysis: Brooks needed surgery to repair a broken foot he suffered in August and landed on injured reserve Sept. 4. Brooks, the team's fourth-round draft pick in last April's draft, posted six tackles, three passes defended and an interception in three preseason games. However, Fantasy owners shouldn't expect an immediate impact from him once he hits the field and leave him on waivers at this point.
News: The Bills moved defensive back Ron Brooks to injured reserve after he underwent successful foot surgery last week, but his season is not over. Buffalo listed Brooks as their "designated to return" player, a new rule instituted by the NFL this season. Under the guidelines, a club can return one player on injured reserve to the active roster later in the season. Brooks is eligible for Week 9 at Houston.
Analysis: Brooks, the team's fourth-round draft pick in last April's draft, posted six tackles, three passes defended and an interception in three preseason games. Despite the possibility of a return, Fantasy owners should continue to leave Brooks on waivers while he works back from injury.
News: Buffalo defensive back Ron Brooks will miss the Bills' season opener against the Jets and possibly more time after having successful foot surgery Thursday. He suffered the injury earlier this week and did not travel for the team's final preseason game at Detroit. "He had surgery and they said it went extremely well and well see where this takes us from here," coach Chan Gailey told the team's official website.
Analysis: Gailey said Brooks is still a candidate to be placed on injured reserve exception, which would allow him to be reinstated once he's healthy. Brooks, the team's fourth-round draft pick in last April's draft, posted six tackles, three passes defended and an interception in three preseason games. Fantasy owners should continue to leave Brooks on waivers while he works back from injury.
News: The Bills spent their first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft on cornerback Stephon Gilmore, giving them a set of fresh legs to help against opposing offenses. Gilmore's got great size and should be at least a nickelback to start the year. The Bills rounded out their defensive draft haul with Florida State linebacker Nigel Bradham, LSU cornerback Ron Brooks and TCU linebacker Tank Carder.
Analysis: Bradham and Carder have some potential to put up some tackle totals given the chance in the future, and Brooks has a chance to eventually step into some work; he's fast as can be and was somewhat overshadowed in college. Carder and Bradham might be useful down the line and are worth late picks in the deepest of rookie-only drafts while Brooks might not ever put up a ton of numbers.
