Dolphins unveil Week 17 injury report

(12/26/2014) The Dolphins enter Week 17 against the Jets relatively healthy, with only three players listed as questionable and nine players listed as probable.

Linebacker Jelani Jenkins (foot), defensive end Derrick Shelby (ankle) and tackle Dallas Thomas (foot) were labeled as questionable. Tight end Charles Clay (hamstring, knee), cornerback Cortland Finnegan (ankle, knee), linebacker Jonathan Freeny (hamstring), safety Don Jones (shoulder), linebacker Koa Misi (hamstring, knee), defensive tackle Earl Mitchell (back), defensive tackle Jared Odrick (ankle), running back Daniel Thomas (knee) and wide receiver Mike Wallace (back) were all deemed probable.

(10/14/2014) The Dolphins reinstated defensive end Derrick Shelby, who missed one game after being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Shelby was arrested 10 days ago at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., nightclub on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and resisting arrest without violence.

(10/6/2014) The Dolphins announced Monday defensive lineman Derrick Shelby has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.

"We were disappointed to learn about Derrick’s arrest," coach Joe Philbin said in a press release. "Everyone in this organization is held to high standards of conduct and professionalism. Based on my conversations with Derrick and the information we have thus far, Derrick will be placed on Indefinite Club Suspension. When we have completed all of the necessary diligence, we will make a final determination on his discipline."

The Sun-Sentinel reports Shelby was arrested at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub after an incident that began with touching women without their permission, according to police reports released Monday.

(10/5/2014) Dolphins linebacker Derrick Shelby was arrested for "reportedly causing a disturbance" at a local nightclub on Saturday. He was taken into custody on charges of resisting without violence and trespassing, Shelby's agent told the Sun Sentinel on Sunday.

"Security officers employed at this establishment and uniform Fort Lauderdale Police Officers asked Shelby to leave the establishment and he refused," a Fort Lauderdale detective told the paper in an email.


Koa Misi only Dolphins defender sidelined Sunday

(9/14/2014) The Dolphins defense is mostly in good shape for Sunday's matchup against the Bills in Week 2, but they will be missing one key piece. Linebacker Koa Misi is inactive as a result of a knee injury suffered last week, though his absence was expected as he was listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Other than Misi, the rest of the team enters the game healthy enough to play. Linebackers Philip Wheeler (thumb) and Chris McCain (illness), defensive linemen Randy Starks (toe) and Derrick Shelby (knee), and defensive back Walt Aikens (hand) were all considered probable and are in uniform for the game. 


Five Dolphins defenders expected to play through injury

(9/12/2014) The Dolphins have a lengthy injury report for Week 2 against the Bills, but most of their defensive players listed are expected to be healthy enough to play.

Linebackers Chris McCain (illness) and Philip Wheeler (thumb), defensive linemen Randy Starks (toe) and Derrick Shelby (knee) and defensive back Walt Aikens (hand) are all probable for Sunday's game despite being limited at times during practice.

The following players were limited participants in Wednesday's practice: safety Walt Aikens (hand), tight end Charles Clay (knee), linebacker Koa Misi (shoulder), defensive end Derrick Shelby (illness), kicker Caleb Sturgis (groin), cornerback Jamar Taylor (hip), guard Billy Turner (foot) and linebacker Philip Wheeler (thumb).


Dolphins defense missing just one in Week 12

(11/24/2013) The Dolphins defense is largely healthy for Week 12 against the Panthers, as only Dimitri Patterson (groin) was unable to play through his injury Sunday.

Defensive backs Jimmy Wilson (abdomen), Reshad Jones (groin) and Chris Clemons (knee, shoulder) were joined on the active roster for Sunday's game by linebackers Dannell Ellerbe (knee) and Koa Misi (knee), as well as defensive lineman Derrick Shelby (ankle). 


Cameron Wake exits with leg injury

(9/22/2013) Dolphins defensive lineman Cameron Wake had to leave Sunday's game against the Falcons in Week 3 on the opening drive with an apparent left leg injury. Wake limped off the field with the injury and was getting checked out by trainers. He was replaced by Derrick Shelby at the end of the drive and has yet to return to the field.
