by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/14/2014) Cowboys starting guard Ronald Leary pleaded no contest in his September 2012 drunk driving case, and he'll receive 18 months' probation and a $1,000 fine, reports the Dallas Morning News. Leary's attorney said the punishment is typical for first-time DUI offenders.

It's unlikely the league or the Cowboys will suspend Leary, the paper said.

Jones: Doug Free, Ron Leary could man guard spots

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) The Cowboys could start a quite inexperienced duo at guard this season, Jerry Jones told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Jones offered that it would not be surprising if converted tackle Doug Free and Ronald Leary, who has been active for just one game in his career, open the regular season as the starters.

The Cowboys signed free agent guards Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings a year ago for a combined $6.2 million. Bernadeau has been slow to adjust to a move to the left side while Livings has been sidelined since having knee surgery on August 16.

Ronald Leary's Week 1 status is TBD

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/27/2013) Cowboys guard Ronald Leary said Monday he's feeling good after undergoing multiple knee surgeries, according to ESPN. He's hoping to play in the season opener (Sept. 8) against the Giants.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said during a radio interview Tuesday there's an expectation Leary will play Week 1.

Slew of injured players not practicing for Dallas

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/26/2013) Cowboys defensive lineman Jason Hatcher (groin), guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and safety Danny McCray (hamstring) did not practice Monday after suffering injuries during Saturday's preseason game against the Bengals. Guards Ronald Leary and Nate Livings were also sidelined as they recover from knee surgery.

Nate Livings status a mystery

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/23/2013) The talk from Cowboys officials about Ronald Leary starting at left guard has many wondering about the long-term prospects for Nate Livings, who held down that position last year. Speculation is that Livings is not recovering well from two knee surgeries, according to ESPNDallas. And owner Jerry Jones is fueling the fire.

"You'd ask yourself, 'Is there a degeneration in the knee, as opposed to a fix of the injury that comes back as good as new?'" Jones said. "I think he's having some of that, a degeneration. But that's not uncommon at all at this point in his career, so a combination of those little things puts a little guesswork into when he might be back."
