News: The Dolphins continued trimming their roster in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: wide receivers Roberto Wallace, Clyde Gates and B.J. Cunningham; linebackers Gary Guyton and Jamaal Westerman; and defensive lineman Ryan Baker.
Analysis: At a sturdy 6-foot-4, Wallace has the build to make an impact in the NFL, but struggles to find separation from defenders and was limited to just five catches for 82 yards in the preseason. Gates, considered the fastest player on the Miami roster, struggled with a hamstring issue early in training camp and has failed to live up to potential. Neither of these players are expected to make a Fantasy splash and should be left on waivers.

News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Dolphins rookie receiver B.J. Cunningham hasn't shown much consistency so far in team workouts and could be in danger of not making the final roster.
Analysis: Cunningham was an established receiver at Michigan State and has good size. He also has a decent opportunity to play as the Dolphins' receiving corps isn't too deep. For now assume that he's worth only a late pick in dynasty/keeper league drafts and a mid-to-late pick in rookie-only formats.
News: The Dolphins selected Michigan State receiver B.J. Cunningham in the sixth round of the NFL draft. Cunningham, the Spartans' leading career receiver, had 79 catches last year for 1,306 yards and 12 touchdowns. In four seasons he made 218 receptions for a school-record 2,086 yards. He stands at 6-foot-1 and 211 pounds.
Analysis: Cunningham's lack of overall speed and explosiveness are question marks, but he is a reliable possession player with vacuum hands. With the lack of talent at receiver for the Dolphins, Cunningham might be able to get some chances to play early. We'll watch him in training camp and let you know if he'll be any good, but for now assume that he's worth only a late pick in dynasty/keeper league drafts and a mid-to-late pick in rookie-only formats.
