Minnifield sustained a concussion Week 13 against the Colts and was not able to return to the game.


Redskins missing four defensive players from practice Friday

(12/5/2014) The Redskins were without defensive end Kedric Golston (back), linebacker Keenan Robinson (knee), safety Brandon Meriweather (toe) and cornerback Chase Minnifield (concussion) for Friday’s practice, reports CSNwashington.com.

The Redskins ruled Golston and Minnifield out of Sunday's game against the Rams, while Meriweather is listed as doubtful and Robinson is questionable.


Defensive starters not practicing Thursday for Redskins

(12/4/2014) Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson (sprained MCL) and safety Brandon Meriweather (sprained toe) both missed practice Thursday and are questionable for Week 14.

Other Redskins who missed practice include Kedric Golston (foot and back), Chase Minnifield (concussion) and E.J. Biggers (concussion). 

Washington will face St. Louis in Week 14.

(11/26/2014) The Redskins elevated cornerback Chase Minnifield from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday. Minnifield has appeared in six games this season, totaling two tackles.

Redskins activate Hankerson, waive Minnifield and release Jones


(11/4/2014) The Redskins announced Tuesday wide receiver Leonard Hankerson has been removed from the physically unable to perform list and added to the 53-man roster.

To make room for Hankerson, the team waived cornerback Chase Minnifield and released tackle Terren Jones from the practice squad.

Hankerson is coming back after tearing his ACL and LCL in November 2013. Prior to the injury, he had 30 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns through 10 games.

(8/30/2014) The Redskins have sliced their roster down to the league-mandated 53 with several cuts on Saturday.

Included among the waived offensive players are running backs Evan Royster, Lache Seastrunk and Chris Thompson. Also gone from that side of the ball are wide receiver Nick Williams and lineman Maurice Hurt .

Defenders cut loose are cornerback Chase Minnifield, linebacker Everette Brown and safety Phillip Thomas.

Placekicker Zach Hocker has also been waived.

The Redskins have also placed defensive tackle Chris Neild and linebacker Darryl Sharpton on the reserve/injured list and defensive end Stephen Bowen and wide receiver Leonard Hankerson on the PUP list.

(8/30/2014) The Redskins have announced several cuts. Included are rookie kicker Zach Hocker, linebacker Everette Brown and defensive backs Chase Minnifield and Phillip Thomas.

The most surprising move was the one involving Thomas, a strong safety who was taken in the fourth round of the 2013 draft.

Griffin III continues to sit in favor of Kirk Cousins. Orakpo is dealing with a groin injury, and has not improved enough to play.

Kirk Cousins will get the start for Washington. Rex Grossman will be the team's backup while Griffin misses another game.

(8/31/2013) The Redskins have announced 15 cuts, including one-time NFL starting offensive tackle Tony Pashos and backup running back Keiland Williams.

The other cuts are as follows: running back Jawan Jamison, wide receivers Skye Dawson, Nick Williams and Lance Lewis, tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi, offensive linemen Tevita Stevens and Xavier Nixon, defensive linemen Chigbo Anunoby, Dominique Hamilton and Ron Brace, linebacker Vic So'oto, cornerback Chase Minnifield and safety Dejon Gomes.

Minnifield is the son of former Browns Pro Bowl cornerback Frank Minnifield. The younger Minnifield was projected as a middle-round pick out of Virginia in 2012, but went undrafted before signing with Washington.
