Steelers fill up practice squad

Goodwin and Derek Moye, offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva, defensive backs Shaquille Richardson and Ross Ventrone, defensive linemen Josh Mauro and Nick Williams, running back Josh Harris, tight end Rob Blanchflower and linebacker Howard Jones to their practice squad.

Steelers unveil final round of preseason cuts

(8/30/2014) The Steelers announced their final round of cuts to trim the roster to 53 players Saturday, as they parted ways with 22 players.

The Steelers released defensive backs Isaiah Green, Dayonne Nunley, Shaquille Richardson and Ross Ventrone, linebackers Chris Carter, Howard Jones and Dan Molls, and defensive linemen Ethan Hemer, Josh Mauro, Roy Philon and Nick Williams on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, the team cut tight ends Rob Blanchflower, Bryce Davis and David Paulson, running backs Josh Harris and Stephen Houston, wide receivers Derek Moye and Lanear Sampson, offensive linemen Graham Pocic, Will Simmons and Guy Whimper, and quarter Brendon Kay.


Ben Roethlisberger spends time with young receivers

(2/11/2014) Steelers receiver Derek Moye went to Southern California last week to work out with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, reports the Beaver County Times. Also there were fellow receivers Markus Wheaton and Justin Brown.

"It went well," Moye said. "It was a chance to get out there and catch some balls from him on the field, but we didn't do that all day. We were able to get to know each other a little bit better as well."

The goal was to work on timing with Roethlisberger and develop a rapport. 

"It was really about (Roethlisberger) getting a feel for some of us a little bit more," Moye said. "We ran some different routes that he wanted to work with us individually on."

Steelers issue Sunday inactive list

(12/22/2013) The loss of linebacker Jarvis Jones with an illness highlights the inactive report submitted Sunday by the Steelers for their game at Green Bay.

The healthy scratches are defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo, cornerback Isaiah Green, quarterback Landry Jones, wideout Derek Moye, offensive lineman David Snow and linebacker Jamaal Westerman .

(12/8/2013) Only one of the Steelers seven inactive players for Week 14 against the Dolphins was sidelined by injury, as defensive lineman Brett Keisel's foot kept him off the field. Otherwise, the team's inactive list is comprised entirely of healthy scratches.

Offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum and David Snow, quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Derek Moye, linebacker Kion Wilson, and defensive back Isaiah Green make up the remainder of the team's list. 


Steelers unveil inactive list Thursday

(11/28/2013) The Steelers inactive list for Week 13 against the Ravens doesn't feature much in the way of surprises Thursday, with only two injured players included. Linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) and defensive lineman Steve McLendon (ankle) were unable to play through their injuries Thursday.

The remainder of the inactive list featured healthy scratches, with tight end Richard Gordon, quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Derek Moye and linebackers Stevenson Sylvester and DeMarcus Van Dyke remaining out of uniform. 


Steelers list four injuries among Sunday inactives

(11/24/2013) Two significant injuries highlight the inactive list submitted Sunday by the Steelers. Linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) and defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) will not play against the Browns. Neither will linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (hamstring) or safety Shamarko Thomas (ankle).

The healthy scratches are tight end Richard Gordon, wideout Derek Moye and quarterback Landry Jones.


Steelers inactives Week 11

(11/17/2013) The Steelers have made S Shamarko Thomas, LB LaMarr Woodley, G Ramon Foster, DE Brett Keisel, QB Landry Jones, WR Derek Moye and TE Rich Gordon inactive Week 11 against the Lions. 

Thomas was the only player ruled out Friday. Woodley was doubtul with a calf injury. Both Keisel and Foster were questionable, but will not play.

Linebackers Kion Wilson and Chris Carter, defensive back DeMarcus Van Dyke, defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo, tight end Richard Gordon, quarterback Landry Jones, and wide receiver Derek Moye represent the team's list of inactives for the week. 

Steelers get contributions from role players in Week 7

(11:06 pm ET) The Steelers received minor offensive contributions from a few role players Week 7 against the Ravens.

In the passing game, wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery caught four passes from Ben Roethlisberger for 41 yards while Derek Moye had only one catch for a gain of 19 yards.

In the running game, Felix Jones had five carries for 16 yards (3.2 yards per carry) and caught one pass for a gain of 3 yards. Jonathan Dwyer had one handoff for a gain of 4 yards in a 19-16 win.

Derek Moye's first career catch is a touchdown

(9/17/2013) Steelers wideout Derek Moye, who went undrafted out of Penn State last year, made his first career catch count. He hauled in a 1-yard touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger to tie Monday’s game against the Bengals.

That was his only target.

Moye (6-4, 209) joined the Steelers' practice squad last November and has been with the team ever since. He plays the Bears in Week 3.
