Steelers probables active Week 9 vs. Ravens

(11/2/2014) All nine Steelers players listed as probable to play in Week 9 are active for Sunday's game against the Ravens, including tight ends Heath Miller (not injury related) and Matt Spaeth (hamstring).

Also active for the Steelers are tackle Marcus Gilbert (concussion), defensive linemen Brett Keisel (not injury related) and Steve McLendon (shoulder), linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) and safeties Troy Polamalu (not injury related), Mike Mitchell (groin) and Shamarko Thomas (hamstring).

Ike Taylor (forearm) and Ross Ventrone (hamstring) were both ruled out.

Marcus Gilbert (concussion), Mike Mitchell (groin), Ryan Shazier (knee), Matt Spaeth (hamstring), Shamarko Thomas (hamstring), Brett Keisel (rest), Heath Miller (rest) and Troy Polamalu (rest) were all deemed probable for Sunday.

(10/24/2014) The Steelers have officially ruled out Steve McLendon (shoulder), Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) and Ike Taylor (forearm) for Week 8 at home against Indianapolis. Marcus Gilbert has yet to pass the league's concussion protocol and was labeled doubtful for Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ryan Shazier (knee), Brett Keisel (rest), Mike Mitchell (rest) and Troy Polamalu (rest) were all deemed probable.

(10/10/2014) The Steelers unveiled their injury report for Week 6 at Cleveland, and it's pretty cut and dry. Out of seven players listed on the report, four of them have been ruled probable for Sunday. The other three were ruled out for the game.

Safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring), cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) were labeled out for Sunday.

Safeties Troy Polamalu and Mike Mitchell, tight end Heath Miller and Brett Keisel were all deemed probable despite receiving a rest day on Wednesday. Polamalu was the only player out of the group to miss back-to-back days of practice before returning for Friday's session.

(3/11/2014) Free agent safety Mike Mitchell signed a five-year deal worth $25 million with the Steelers Tuesday, at the start of the free agency period. ESPN.com confirmed the financial terms of the deal Tuesday night.

Mitchell will receive a big time increase over the $1 million he made during his breakout season for the Panthers last year, during which he record 67 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles.

The paper says Carolina should make re-signing Mitchell a priority. He turns 27 in June.

(12/1/2013) Panthers defensive back Mike Mitchell, who had gone six games without an interception since recording two Week 6 at Minnesota, got back on board Week 13 against the Buccaneers, pulling down an off-target deep ball from quarterback Mike Glennon in the third quarter.

Mitchell also had four tackles, including three solo. He's averaging 3.9 tackles per game.

(11/3/2013) After recording a sack in back-to-back games, Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy wasn't much of a factor Week 9 against the Falcons, producing three sacks, one solo. Likewise, defensive back Mike Mitchell, who had his own two-game sack streak snapped last week, had three tackles, one solo.

Neither player is considered a reliable source of tackles. Hardy has a total of five sacks this season, and Mitchell has three interceptions to go along with his two sacks.

Mitchell added eight tackles to his line, along with his sack, and forced a pair of fumbles. He has 25 tackles on the season, 15 of which have come in the last two games, along with his two sacks.
