(12/15/2014) Browns cornerback Joe Haden has been listed as day to day with a shoulder injury, a league source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk on Monday. Haden suffered the injury in the first half of a 30-0 defeat to Cincinnati.

Cleveland will face Carolina and Baltimore to end the regular season.

(10/10/2014) The Browns unveiled a lengthy injury report for Week 6 against Pittsburgh. Wide receiver Rodney Smith (hamstring) and defensive lineman Phillip Taylor (knee) and Billy Winn (quad) have been officially ruled out for the game.

Deemed questionable were star cornerback Joe Haden (hip), linebacker Paul Kruger (back) and defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin (ankle).

Defensive lineman Desmond Bryant (wrist), tight end Jordan Cameron (ankle, shoulder), defensive back Tashaun Gipson (shoulder), offensive lineman John Greco (knee), linebacker Eric Martin (personal), defensive back Buster Skrine (thumb), running back Ben Tate (finger) and offensive lineman Joe Thomas (rest) have been all ruled probable for Sunday.

(10/3/2014) Struggling Browns cornerback Joe Haden has expressed positivity about changes to the defensive schemes made by the coaches this week. He told the team website that play calls that have resulted in big gains by opposing offenses have been eliminated.

"It's been very, very helpful," Haden said. "It's not like we are that bad off, we've just got to start making plays, like myself. I've got to pick up my play. And everyone feels there's been two, three, four plays that if we made, our defense would look so much better."

Despite poor performances by Haden, particularly in the clutch this season, Mike Pettine praised him for his outlook and influence on his teammates.

"I mean he comes out, Joe is Joe," Pettine said. "He's the same, he's got a smile on his face, hopping around, high energy. He practices hard. He's not pressing. It's not like, 'Hey, I have to be different so I'm going to press. He goes full in practice all the time. It's a great example for our younger guys."

Both Paul McQuistan and John Hughes have been ruled out for the contest. Defensive lineman Desmond Bryant has been listed as doubtful. 

The team did list five players as probable. Cornerbacks Pierre Desir, Joe Haden and Buster Skrine should all be good to go. So will safety Jim Leonhard, linebacker Eric Martin and long-snapper Christian Yount

(5/13/2014) Browns cornerback Joe Haden agreed to a five-year contract extension that includes $22 million fully guaranteed at signing and another $23 million guaranteed for injury, reports Pro Football Talk. The guaranteed money eclipses what corner Richard Sherman received from Seattle in his recent extension.

The deal will keep Haden, 25, in Cleveland through 2019.


Browns select Justin Gilbert after trade

(5/8/2014) With the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft, the Browns traded up and selected defensive back Justin Gilbert from Oklahoma State.

The Browns swapped first-round choices with the Vikings. In addition to receiving the Browns' No. 9 selection, the Vikings now have Cleveland's 2014 fifth-round pick (145th overall).

Gilbert is 6-foot, 202 pounds, and he ran a 4.31 40-yard dash. He will likely start opposite Joe Haden, and the Browns defense and Browns DST now have a formidable defensive backfield. 

Gilbert will also provide the Browns help in the return game. In 2013, Gilbert had six interceptions, including two for touchdowns, and a 100-yard kickoff return.

(4/4/2014) Browns top corner Joe Haden, who's entering the final year of his rookie deal, said talks with the team about an extension have been "all positive," reports NFL.com. Haden sounds committed to Cleveland despite the team's consistent losing since he arrived.

"I'm not just going to run away to go somewhere else," he told the website. "That's not what I'm about, that's not what I stand for. I want to be there when it changes because that city is ready for a winner. Some of the best fans in the league and I want to be there when we do start winning. We'll turn Cleveland out."

(2/12/2014) The Browns are expected to make re-signing cornerback Joe Haden a "top priority" according to NFL Network. The franchise is going through a transition in its front office but it shouldn't matter in Haden's case since he's considered one of the best players at his position. 

Haden had four interceptions and 20 passes defensed last season and has 13 interceptions and 67 passes defensed in four years. He enters 2014 in a contract year, meaning he'll be a free agent in the spring of 2015.
