Browns players didn't know Josh Gordon wasn't allowed to drink

(4/21/2015) Cornerback Joe Haden said that Browns players didn't know that WR Josh Gordon wasn't allowed to drink alcohol.

Gordon's return to the NFL was under the condition that he stay away from alcohol. 

Gordon, Haden and several teammates flew to Las Vegas on a private plane following the regular season. Gordon had several drinks on the flight and was tested by the NFL when the plane landed and was subsequently suspended for the 2015 season

"If I knew he couldn't have a drink, everybody would have tried to ... you know what I'm saying ... it wouldn't have been that," Haden said following Tuesday's OTA, per ESPN. "Josh Gordon, he's a grown man and sometimes you got to know what decisions you make."

Gordon has said he thought the alcohol ban expired at the end of the season. Haden went on to say that he thought the ban was unfair. 


Browns' Joe Haden on Johnny Manziel: There's something different

(4/21/2015) Browns cornerback Joe Haden recently had an in-depth conversation with quarterback Johnny Manziel and Haden said he came away with a different impression of Manziel, reports the Northeast Ohio Media Group.

"I can tell there's something different with him," Haden said.

Manziel recently completed a stint in rehab and Haden sees a more motivated player and he believes Manziel can be a winner in the NFL.

"He has a second chance," Haden said. "He knows he needs to be in here."


Browns CB Joe Haden's contract now fully guaranteed

(2/7/2015) Browns cornerback Joe Haden is set to make $8.3 million in base salary in 2015, which became fully guaranteed Wednesday, according to CBSSports.com's Joel Corry.

Haden totaled 73 tackles and three interceptions in 2014 and has 16 interceptions with 251 tackles in his five-year career in Cleveland. Haden signed a contract extension before the 2014 season and is under contract through 2019.

(12/26/2014) The Browns listed 11 players on its final injury report for Week 17 against Baltimore. Ahtyba Rubin (ankle) and Ryan Seymour (hamstring) were ruled out, while quarterback Brian Hoyer (shoulder, bicep) was deemed doubtful for Sunday.

Gary Barnidge (rib), Desmond Bryant (thumb), Joe Haden (shoulder), Andrew Hawkins (thumb), Jabaal Sheard (foot), Ryan Taylor (elbow) and K'Waun Williams (hamstring) were designated as questionable. Marlon Moore (knee) was the only player on the report labeled probable.

(12/23/2014) Browns cornerbacks Joe Haden (shoulder) and K'Waun Williams (hamstring) both returned to the practice field on Tuesday, per the Akron Beacon Journal. Both corners missed Sunday's loss to Carolina due to injuries.

Cleveland opened as a 7-point road underdog. The line has now moved to 9 points in favor of the Ravens in Week 17.

(12/21/2014) The battered Browns list three injured players on their inactive list for their Sunday game at Carolina, including Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder). Also hurt and out are fellow corner K'Waun Williams (hamstring) and tight end Gary Barnidge (rib).

The healthy scratches are wideout Rodney Smith , running back Glenn Winston and offensive linemen Vinston Painter and Andrew McDonald.

(12/21/2014) Browns cornerback Joe Haden will miss Sunday's game against the Panthers with a shoulder injury, according ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler.

Haden tried to warmup and looked good, according to Fowler, but said as he was walking off the field he's not playing. 

Rookie Robert Nelson is third cornerback on the depth behind Haden and K'Wuan Williams, who are both out and could see an increase in playing time in Haden's place. The Panthers are 3 1/2 point favorites at home against Cleveland.

Also listed as questionable are Gary Barnidge (ribs), Marlon Moore (knee), Robert Nelson (hamstring) and Jabaal Sheard (foot).

The Browns ruled K’Waun Williams (hamstring) and Tashaun Gipson (knee) as out. Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins (illness) is the only player listed as probable.

The Browns are 3 ½ point underdogs to the Panthers.

Their continued absences could mean they will all be sidelined when the team plays at Charlotte on Sunday.

Deemed questionable were star cornerback Joe Haden (hip), linebacker Paul Kruger (back) and defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin (ankle).

(10/3/2014) Struggling Browns cornerback Joe Haden has expressed positivity about changes to the defensive schemes made by the coaches this week. He told the team website that play calls that have resulted in big gains by opposing offenses have been eliminated.

"It's been very, very helpful," Haden said. "It's not like we are that bad off, we've just got to start making plays, like myself. I've got to pick up my play. And everyone feels there's been two, three, four plays that if we made, our defense would look so much better."

Despite poor performances by Haden, particularly in the clutch this season, Mike Pettine praised him for his outlook and influence on his teammates.

"I mean he comes out, Joe is Joe," Pettine said. "He's the same, he's got a smile on his face, hopping around, high energy. He practices hard. He's not pressing. It's not like, 'Hey, I have to be different so I'm going to press. He goes full in practice all the time. It's a great example for our younger guys."
