Buccaneers place S Major Wright on IR

(12/20/2014) The Buccaneers announced a pair of roster moves on Saturday, per the team's official website. Tampa Bay placed safety Major Wright on season-ending injured reserve with an injury to the ribs and promoted cornerback C.J. Wilson from the practice squad to the active roster.

Wright appeared in 12 games this season, registering 51 combined tackles, his lowest total since 2010.


Goldson, Foster among notable questionable for Buccaneers

(12/19/2014) The Buccaneers ruled running back Bobby Rainey (wrist) as probable for Sunday's game against the Packers. He was the only player on Tampa Bay's final injury report for Week 16 deemed probable.

Safety Major Wright (ribs) was ruled out. Meanwhile, the following players were deemed questionable: Cornerback Isaiah Frey (ankle), linebacker Mason Foster (Achilles), safety Dashon Goldson (shin), defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (hamstring), tackle Kevin Pamphile (ankle) and wide receiver Solomon Patton (foot).

Linebacker Mason Foster (Achilles), defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (knee), defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (hamstring), wide receiver Solomon Patton (foot), running back Bobby Rainey (ankle), tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back) and safety Major Wright (ribs).

Meanwhile, the following players were ruled as probable for Sunday: Tackle Anthony Collins (elbow), linebacker Lavonte David (concussion) and tight end Brandon Myers (calf).

(11/30/2014) Six of the seven Buccaneers designated as questionable for he Sunday game against the Bengals have been ruled out. They are linebacker Lavonte David (hamstring), center Evan Dietrich-Smith (illness), defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (hamstring) and tight ends Brandon Myers (calf), Luke Stocker (concussion) and Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back).

The lone exception is safety Major Wright (shoulder), who has been given the green light.

(11/28/2014) The Buccaneers listed 10 players on its final injury report for Sunday's contest against Cincinnati. Defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (knee), safety Dashon Goldson (illness) and running back Charles Sims (ankle) were the only three players deemed probable.

Wright is dealing with a shoulder injury. Wright had two tackles prior to leaving the contest. He'll be evaluated by trainers in order to determine whether he can return to action.

(8/30/2014) Strong safety Major Wright, a full-time starter for the Bears in each of the last three seasons, has been cut by the Buccaneers. He had been dealing with a back injury.

Wright contributed to a career-high 100 tackles last season with Chicago before signing with Tampa Bay in April as a free agent.

(8/16/2014) The Buccaneers were but by the injury bug during Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins. The team had several players leave with injuries.

Running back Mike James left the game with a right shoulder injury in the third quarter. He finished 18 yards on three carries and did not return.

Defensive end William Gholston also suffered a shoulder injury and did not return. Defensive back Rashaan Melvin suffered an ankle injury was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Linebacker Brandon Magee was carted off with a right ankle injury and safety Major Wright exited with a back injury.

(4/4/2014) Free agent safety Major Wright signed a one-year contract with the Buccaneers, reports NFL Network. Wright made 100 tackles and two interceptions with the Bears last year.

(10/20/2013) The Bears defense had several members grace the injury report heading into Sunday's Week 7 game at Washington. Fortunately for the Bears, just about everyone is healthy and ready to play against the Redskins.

Cornerback Charles Tillman, the only questionable defender due to a nagging knee injury, is active for the game. He was really the only iffy member of the defense on the injury report entering Sunday.

The remainder of the players on the report, all probable, are active as well. They are defensive backs Major Wright (knee) and Anthony Walters (hamstring), as well as linebacker James Anderson (back) and defensive lineman Stephen Paea (toe).
