Brett Keisel lone injured Steelers player among inactives

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/8/2013) Only one of the Steelers seven inactive players for Week 14 against the Dolphins was sidelined by injury, as defensive lineman Brett Keisel's foot kept him off the field. Otherwise, the team's inactive list is comprised entirely of healthy scratches.

Offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum and David Snow, quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Derek Moye, linebacker Kion Wilson, and defensive back Isaiah Green make up the remainder of the team's list.

Kelvin Beachum takes over as Steelers' starting center for now

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/10/2013) Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum is slated to start at center Week 2 at Cincinnati in place of the injured Maurkice Pouncey, who is lost for the season with a knee injury. Tomlin added it could change depending on how quickly newly signed center Fernando Velasco gets up to speed.

Steelers like Kelvin Beachum's versatility

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/29/2013) Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum "certainly" has the potential to become a regular part of the offense instead of a backup lineman.

"He is a very versatile player, and we’re enjoying moving him around," Tomlin said, per NFL.com. "Here’s a guy who has played both right and left tackle, he has played some guard in the past, he will be playing some center (Thursday against the Panthers), and he really did an above-the-line job against the Kansas City Chiefs as a tight end for us with our first group. He’s a young guy who plays with great detail, is smart, and he’s got upside. He’s got a future, and not only is he helping us right now from a versatility standpoint, but we don’t have him in a box that won’t allow him to ascend within the ranks as he continues to grow and mature as a football player."
