This was easily Collie's biggest performance this season. It was good timing considering Collie, 28, is entering free agency.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(1/12/2014) The Patriots received minor contributions from several role players during Sunday's playoff win over the Colts.

Austin Collie and Michael Hoomanawanui each had one reception. Collie finished with 15 yards on one target while Hoomanawanui finished with 6 yards on one target. In the ground game, James Develin had one carry for no gain in a 43-22 win.

Austin Collie back with Patriots

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/2/2014) The Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Austin Collie, which could result in either Aaron Dobson or Josh Boyce heading to IR. Both have been nursing ankle injuries and have not practiced this week. Collie played in seven games during the regular season and caught six passes for 63 yards.

(12/27/2013) Wide receiver Austin Collie was released Friday by the Patriots. He caught six passes for 63 yards this season.

Little-used Patriots receivers play a role

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/15/2013) With the Patriots receiving corps hit hard by injuries, a couple of role players had to play bigger than expected parts in Sunday's game against the Dolphins in Week 15.

Josh Boyce, who entered the game with just five receptions on the season, hauled in four of seven passes thrown his way. He racked up 42 yards on those receptions, just below his total from last week.

Austin Collie matched a season high with two receptions for 25 yards, while being targeted three times in the 24-20 loss.

Depending on the statuses of Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson, the Patriots might need to rely on this duo yet again in Week 16 against the Ravens.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/8/2013) Patriots running back Stevan Ridley returned from a one-game forced absence for fumbling and held onto the ball Sunday against the Browns. He rushed for 35 yards on eight attempts and added one catch for 2 yards.

Also snagging one each for New England were running back James Develin (31 yards), wide receiver Austin Collie (5 yards) and tight end Matthew Mulligan (15 yards).

Report: Austin Collie's contract has injury waiver

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/5/2013) Patriots newly signed wide receiver Austin Collie's contract reportedly includes an injury waiver, NFL.com reports.

"I'd rather not talk about that," Collie said Friday. "Guys, I'd rather not talk about the concussions or the past injuries. All that stuff is behind me. I think I've been asked those questions, you know, a lot in the past couple of years. I'm ready to put all that stuff behind me and move on. I'm just worried about being here. Being a part of this team and helping any way I can."

The injury waiver is not surprising due to Collie's long injury history. Collie was signed as insurance as the team is banged up at WR.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/4/2013) Newly acquired wide receiver Austin Collie could make his Patriots debut as early as Sunday, according to Bill Belichick. Collie was signed Thursday, but Belicheck said he's a "pretty smart guy" and could be ready to play against Cincinnati, per ESPN.

The Patriots could use another healthy body at that position. They have five receivers and tight end Rob Gronkowski on their injured list.

Austin Collie sent packing by Niners

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Collie caught 172 passes for 1,839 yards and 16 touchdowns for Indianapolis from 2009 to 2011, but lost last season to a knee injury. He signed a one-year contract with the Niners in early August, but he caught just five passes for 51 yards in the preseason.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle early this week, Jim Harbaugh indicated he had not fully recovered from his injury and Collie did not fit into the team's plans.

All signs 'pointing in right direction' for Austin Collie

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/13/2013) 49ers wideout Austin Collie "is picking up the offense quickly," reports the Sacramento Bee, and the former Colts receiver "seems focused and eager to resume his career." Collie caught two passes for 20 yards in the preseason opener.

The paper notes Collie "still hasn't gone full bore due to last year's knee injury. Still, all signs are pointing in the right direction for him."

Austin Collie, Lavelle Hawkins to get more reps

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/11/2013) New 49ers receivers Austin Collie and Lavelle Hawkins will get more work in practice this week as San Francisco continues to search for wideouts behind Anquan Boldin. Coach Jim Harbaugh told the Sacramento Bee he's pleased with what he's seen from Collie and Hawkins since they signed Aug. 2.

"They're studying hard, working hard to get out there and chomping at the bit to be out there," Harbaugh said.

Collie caught two passes for 20 yards at the end of the preseason opener, but has yet to get extensive work with Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers "remain wary of [Collie] going at top speed" because he's coming off a torn patella tendon, the paper said.

"I think coming off of serious leg injuries, you've got to be conscious of not bursting and not hitting that top gear just yet," Harbaugh said. "So it's a progression."

49ers still waiting on WR to step up

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/9/2013) The 49ers are looking for a receiver to step up opposite Anquan Boldin with Michael Crabtree (Achilles) out, and the group had mixed results during Thursday's preseason opener against Denver, reports the Sacramento Bee.

Coach Jim Harbaugh praised receivers Marlon Moore, who started the game, and Kassim Osgood, who played well both on offense and on special teams. As far as A.J. Jenkins, who played more snaps than any other receiver but who ranked 10th in receiving yards Thursday. "Ah, it could have been better," Harbaugh said.

Newcomer Austin Collie got into the game at the end and had two catches for 20 yards. "A little foreign because it's been so long," said Collie, who missed most of the 2012 season with a knee injury. "But it felt good."

Austin Collie shows up late in preseason opener

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/9/2013) Within a week after signing with the 49ers, wide receiver Austin Collie made his San Francisco debut in Thursday's preseason game against the Broncos. Collie, who has been plagued by concussions, spent last season on injured reserve with a ruptured patella tendon. He was cut by the Colts in the offseason.

Collie entered the game late in the fourth quarter and caught a short, 4-yard pass from Scott Tolzien and converted a fourth down with a 16-yard reception. He was targeted three times and finished with two catches for 20 yards in a 10-6 defeat.
