News: Panthers interim general manager Brandon Beane announced Tuesday wide receiver David Gettis (hamstring) was activated from the PUP list to replace receiver Kealoha Pilares, who went on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Pilares made his biggest impact on special teams for Carolina. He didn't have any Fantasy appeal in standard formats.
News: Carolina wide receiver Kealoha Pilares suffered a shoulder injury during the Week 9 win at Washington Sunday. Pilares did not make a catch in the game but was targeted once by quarterback Cam Newton.
Analysis: Pilares was expected to be targeted more Week 9 with Brandon LaFell injured but all that happened was an injury for the receiver. He has two catches all season and is not a recommended Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Panthers wide receiver Kealoha Pilares made only his second career catch Week 4 at Atlanta. It started as a simple screen pass, but he took it 36 yards for a touchdown.
Analysis: Pilares' only other catch was a 6-yarder back in Week 2. He mostly contributes on special teams, and this one play isn't likely to change that. You can leave him on waivers in Fantasy.
News: Panthers rookie WR Kealoha Pilares said hes progressing well from his high ankle sprain Wednesday but said trainers havent given him a date on when hell be allowed to play. He suspects it will be sooner rather than later. "Hopefully Im right around the corner, Pilares said. Ive been able to jog, so Im getting closer.
Analysis: Pilares was a solid WR at Hawaii and he has a chance to make an impact as a reserve player on a team in need of receiving help. Unfortunately, injury has held him back of late just before his first pro game. Pilares should not be considered an option in any Fantasy format for now, but the situation should be monitored anyway.
News: The Panthers opened the fifth round of the draft by taking WR Kealoha Pilares of Hawaii with the 132nd overall pick. The 5-foot-10 Pilares will join a receiving unit that's in limbo as star Steve Smith has hedged on whether he wants to return to Carolina next season. Pilares caught 88 passes for 1,306 yards and 15 touchdowns before hurting his knee in Hawaii's bowl game.
Analysis: Pilares will join a group of young receivers that includes David Gettis, Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards. We'd be surprised if he wound up posting relevant stats on a weekly basis. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
